S & L Players presents Comedy Times Two - An Evening of Laughter

(SOMERS POINT, NJ) -- S & L Players will present an evening of original theater featuring local playwrights and directors from September 20-22, 2024 at Studio;Space Theater in Somers Point.

Plays include the comedy, Lucky Numbers, which is written and directed by Sam Sardina.  This play takes place on Christmas Eve and Joe Dupree has just won the New York State Lottery.  He's quit his job and his wife has gone on a spending spree. But, did he really win the big prize?

Tom Chin's comedy, As She Likes It (directed by Heidi Mae) is next up.  In this play, barmaid Catherine dreams that one day she will be able to stop working at her father's pub and become what she was meant to be - an actor! That's no easy task in 1600s England. Will she be able to convince the two traveling minstrels that they need her in their act?

Performances take place Friday and Saturday, September 20 and 21 at 8:00pm; and Sunday, September 22 at 3:00pm. Tickets are $15 - reservations are recommended. Cash, check, or PayPal accepted. The running time for each play is approximately 30 minutes. There will be a 15-minut intermission.  Studio;Space Theater is located at 112 Woodland Avenue in Somers Point, New Jersey.

The S & L Players began in 2003 with the production of Same Time Next Year at the Sea Isle City Playhouse. With their love of theater and of each other, Sam Sardina and Leanne McGiffin have turned a pet project into a successful theater company.

ON-GOING EVENTS

(MADISON, NJ) -- Long before Bridgerton sparked desires and ignited our screens, a young, new writer set the hearts of England ablaze with the deep longing of her compelling characters. Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility tells the captivating tale of the Dashwood sisters as they attempt to navigate financial strife, would-be suitors, and the rigid edicts of English society following the death of their father. Jessica Swale’s elegant stage adaptation of this beloved classic overflows with humor and style. The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey will present Sense and Sensibility at their F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre on the campus of Drew University from September 4-22, 2024.
