RVCC Planetarium Honors Hispanic Heritage Month with Show Focusing on Six Mayan Temples

(BRANCHBURG, NJ) -- In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the Raritan Valley Community College Planetarium in Branchburg will present “Mayan Archeoastronomy: Observers of the Universe,” Saturday, September 21, 2024 at 7:00pm.

In a feast of colors and sounds, “Mayan Archeoastronomy: Observers of the Universe” presents a tour of six Mayan temples—San Gervasio, Chichen Itzá, Uxmal, Edzná, Palenque, and Bonampak—highlighting the importance of the temples’ orientation in relation to the movement of such stars as the Sun, the Moon, and Venus. The program is recommended for audience members age 10 and older.

Additional star shows at the Planetarium in September include “Black Holes,” “Astronomy Tonight” offering a guided tour of the night sky, and programs specifically geared for children as young as three.

Late admission to Planetarium shows is not permitted.
