(EAST BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- School of Rock - The Musical, featuring music by Andrew Lloyd Webber, lyrics by Glenn Slater, and a book by Julian Fellowes comes to Playhouse 22 weekends from November 1-17, 2024.

Based on the Paramount movie with the same name, by Mike White starring Jack Black, the musical follows Dewey Finn, a failed, wannabe rock star who decides to earn a few extra bucks by posing as a substitute teacher at a prestigious prep school. There he turns a class of straight-A students into a guitar-shredding, bass-slapping, mind-blowing rock band – sensationally performed live by the production’s young actors every night with roof-raising energy!

Devin Massih serves as the director, with music direction Liam McGeary and Raven Dunbar as choreographer.

The show will run November 1-17, 2024 with performances on Friday and Saturday evenings at 8:00pm and Sunday matinees at 2:00pm. Tickets are $24/adults and $22/seniors and students, and they must be purchased at Playhouse22.org or over the phone at 732-254-3939.

The theater is conveniently located at the Elliott Taubenslag Theater at the East Brunswick Community Arts Center (721 Cranbury Road) in East Brunswick, New Jersey.

In addition, Playhouse 22 presents a series of special events throughout the year, include their widely acclaimed "Third Thursday Play Reading" series with allows local playwrights to present their works in front a live audience -- often for the first time.  Other special events include live music concerts, a popular two day Theater Festivals, and events for children.
