(STAFFORD TOWNSHIP, NJ) -- Intelligent, sensitive and adaptable, dogs are ideal for helping us physically and emotionally. Learn about service dogs and therapy dogs and meet them, too, during a Friends Adventure, "Caregiver Canines®," on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at the Ocean County Library Stafford Branch. The event begins at 10:00am.
Danielle Maley, Program Manager and Caregiver Canine Coordinator for Caregiver Volunteers of Central Jersey, will explain the capabilities of therapy dogs and service dogs, describe Caregiver Canine® programs and highlight their value in reducing stress and loneliness through connection, attention, comfort and joy.
The unique program originated in 2009 as a way to provide self-esteem and health support among seniors in the comfort of their homes. The organization also points to the ability of Caregiver Canines to help spark memories in patients of dementias.
Danielle sees to it that the dogs in the program are certified, insured, and appropriate in nature for the tasks they perform. Handlers arrange meeting dates, times and places with seniors and stay for the entire visit while seniors enjoy time with their furry friends.
Danielle will be glad to acquaint attendees with the certified Caregiver Canines that will accompany her. Please register at https://bit.ly/OclStaffordCVCJ for this free program, sponsored by Friends of the Stafford Library.
