NJPAC presents comedian Aida Rodriguez

originally published: 01/15/2025

(NEWARK, NJ) -- New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) presents comedian Aida Rodriguez on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at 8:00pm. Aida is a comedian, writer, actor, and author — a favorite of critics and fans alike.

Esquire Magazine declared of her, "This is Rodriguez's genius—using comedy to turn pain into progress, to give voice to the voiceless, and to laugh instead of cry." Aida's comedy special Fighting Words is streaming on HBO Max, and she was a standout on Netflix; Tiffany Haddish produced the hit series, They Ready.

She is a key collaborator on the platform's HBO Entre Nos franchise, which features the brightest up-and-coming comedy talent. Aida was not only a breakout star of the series early in her career, but she also recently stepped behind the camera to direct its current batch of specials. She is a guest writer for Buzzfeed and Oprah Daily and a regular commentator on The Young Turks. Her Harper Collins memoir Legitimate Kid was just released and is making its rounds with critics and the everyday people for whom she wrote it.

Rodriguez will make you laugh hard and think hard. She brilliantly tackles any topic, from zombies to social justice. In addition to her special Fighting Words (Max), she’s made a splash on Last Comic Standing (NBC), They Ready (Netflix), Entre Nos (HBO), This Week at the Comedy Cellar (Comedy Central), Pause with Sam Jay (HBO) and The Young Turks. Aida’s podcast Truth Serum covers the week’s hottest topics from an inclusive and progressive POV, and her book Legitimate Kid explores cultural identity, childhood and motherhood. She’ll have you “laughing, crying and begging for more” (Decider).

Tickets range from $39.50 - $49.50 and are available for purchase online, by calling 888.GO.NJPAC (888.466.5722) or by visiting the NJPAC Box Office. New Jersey Performing Arts Center is located at One Center Street in Newark, New Jersey.
