MPAC's 2024-25 Season Preview

(MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC) has announced its 2024-2025 season, its 30th anniversary season.  Over 60 shows and 90 performances have been announced, with many more to be added over the course of the year.

Tickets for July, August and select fall dates are currently on sale. Tickets for all events go on sale Monday, June 17 at 10:00am at www.MayoArts.Org.

Highlights of the season include Opening Night with Broadway legend Norm Lewis (Sept. 20), the touring Broadway productions of Come From Away (March 28-30), The Cher Show (Feb. 7-8), and Clue (April 25-27), pop favorites KC & the Sunshine Band (Nov. 22), violinist Itzhak Perlman (May 3) and much more covering pop, rock, comedy, dance, jazz variety, and family.

“Our upcoming 30th season features a lineup that will include old favorites and exciting new additions, thrilling touring Broadway productions and innovative performers,” says Allison Larena, President and CEO, MPAC. “From Broadway shows like Come from Away and The Cher Show, to favorites like KC and the Sunshine Band and Mandy Patinkin, to traditional holiday events like Nutcracker and innovative artists including Vitamin String Quartet and Bilal, we are bringing the wow to MPAC this season.”

7/14/24               Night Ranger: Live in Concert - With more than 17 million albums sold worldwide, Night Ranger (“Sister Christian”) has both epitomized and transcended the arena rock sound and style since arriving in the scene in the 1980s.

7/16/24               Justin Hayward & Christopher Cross - A double bill featuring two of music’s most iconic voices! Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Justin Hayward is best-known as the long-time vocalist, lead guitarist and composer for The Moody Blues. Five-time Grammy winner Christopher Cross has sold over 10 million albums and his top ten hits include such classics as “Sailing” and “Ride Like the Wind.”

7/17/24               Yachtley Crew - The ships-ahoy septet Yächtley Crew sets sail for an evening of the best in the Yacht Rock sound, featuring all of your favorite soft rock hits from the 70s and 80s. Come ready to party!

7/31/24               It’s Happening with Snooki & Joey Live - Your girl, Snooki, is here to spill the tea with her best squirrel friend, Joey Camasta! These hot messes will be talking celeb gossip, hot topics, and, of course, getting WAY TOO personal! If you are a fan of humor, gossip, and pop culture commentary, then It’s Happening with Snooki & Joey Live is what you’re looking for.



8/1/24                  New York Bee Gees - Enjoy all of your favorite Bee Gees hits, from classic 70’s disco chart toppers like “Stayin’ Alive” and “Night Fever” to earlier works such as “To Love Somebody,” “I’ve Got To Get A Message To You” and “Massachusetts.” Also in the show is a special tribute to legendary disco diva Donna Summer!

8/6/24                  The Greatest Love of All: The Whitney Houston Show - Whitney Houston’s musical legacy is brought to life in this critically acclaimed tribute show featuring the breathtaking vocals of Belinda Davids. This beautifully crafted tribute will fill you with joy, nostalgia and wonderment as it takes you on a heartfelt journey through Houston’s greatest hits such as “I Will Always Love You,” “I Wanna Dance With Somebody,” “How Will I Know,” “Didn’t We Almost Have It All” and many more. Not associated with the estate of Whitney Houston.

8/8/24                  Air Supply - Air Supply performs from among their classic hits, which include “Lost in Love,” “All Out of Love,” “One That You Love,” “Making Love Out of Nothing at All” and “Every Woman in the World.”

8/9/24                  Jim Breuer: Survival with Laughter Tour - Freewheeling comic storyteller Jim Breuer – who made the list of Comedy Central’s “100 Greatest Standups of All Time” – is hotter than ever, a global touring sensation and regular presence on radio and television, whose rabid audience is filled with “lifetimers” – once folks see him live, they’re hooked!

8/14/24               The Ledbetters with Superunknown:  A Tribute to Pearl Jam and Chris Cornell - A double bill celebrating 1990s grunge favorites Pearl Jam and Chris Cornell. The Ledbetters are the ultimate Pearl Jam tribute band. Capturing an authentic recreation of Pearl Jam’s studio recordings and live shows, The Ledbetters will bring you right back to your flannel-wearing days. Superunknown is the premier tribute band for the music of Chris Cornell, playing the music of Soundgarden, Audioslave and Temple of the Dog.

8/15/24               Tusk - Tusk is the top Fleetwood Mac tribute band in the world. Using no fancy gimmicks, Tusk performs the music of Fleetwood Mac to perfection with note-by-note renditions of your favorite hits such as “Don’t Stop,” “Go Your Own Way,” “Dreams” and “The Chain.”

8/16/24               Pete Davidson Live - Celebrated stand-up comedian, actor, writer, producer and former SNL star Pete Davidson performs an evening of comedy. Mature content, language. Adults only.

8/22/24               Dweezil Zappa: Rox(Postroph)y - Renowned guitarist Dweezil Zappa celebrates two of his father Frank Zappa’s landmark albums, Roxy & Elsewhere and Apostrophe. The tour commemorates the 50th Anniversary of both albums and Dweezil has curated a setlist highlighting fan-favorite tracks from each record, replete with unique hybrid arrangements.



9/20/24               Opening Night: Norm Lewis - Norm Lewis made history as The Phantom of the Opera’s first African-American Phantom on Broadway. Lewis received Tony, Drama Desk, Drama League, and Outer Critics Circle award nominations for his performance as Porgy in the Broadway production of The Gershwins’ Porgy & Bess. Other Broadway credits include Sondheim on Sondheim, The Little Mermaid, Les Misérables and Chicago. Celebrate the opening of MPAC’s 30th anniversary season with this versatile artist who performs standards, Broadway favorites and pop standards.

9/21/24               The Buena Vista Social Orchestra - Buena Vista Social Orchestra, under the direction of famed Cuban trombonist, composer, arranger and musical director, Jesus “Aguaje” Ramos, and featuring key players from throughout the history of The Buena Vista Social Club, continues the legacy of the legendary group with an exciting new stage production and repertoire pulled from the greatest hits (many of which Ramos composed) and deep-dive cuts.

9/27/24               Glen Burtnik’s Summer of Love Concert - Celebrate the songs of the Woodstock Generation, the music that changed the world! Glen Burtnik and the Summer of Love Experience perform the iconic music of the 60s, featuring classics from The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Janis Joplin, The Doors, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, Jimi Hendrix and so many more!



10/5/24               Blippi: Join the Band Tour - C’mon and join Blippi to make music in your hometown in the brand new live Blippi: Join the Band Tour! Blippi will be joined onstage by Meekah, their singing and dancing buddies and live musicians to explore what makes music, including sounds, rhythms and instruments, through all your favorite Blippi hits. So grab your drumsticks, tune up your guitar, and move those feet with Blippi and get ready for a musical performance that’s fun for the whole family!

10/12/24             Rich Francese’s Italian-American Comedy All-Stars - Rich Francese’s Italian American Comedy All Stars is a fast paced, unpredictable and hysterically funny show in which comics (and proud Italian-Americans) Eric Tartaglione, Regina DeCicco, Joseph Anthony and Rich Francese discuss family, friends, growing up Italian and anything else they have an issue with!





10/13/24             Encanto: The Sing-Along Film Concert - Experience the film Encanto while singing along with its chart-topping hits, performed by a live band! Encanto: The Sing-Along Film Concert features all the music of the Academy Award®-winning film, including iconic hits like “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” and “Surface Pressure” performed live by Banda de la Casita. Fans are encouraged to dress up as any of their favorite characters from the film and to use their voices to transform MPAC into one big celebration of the Madrigal family.

10/25/24             Craig Ferguson: The Fancy Rascal Tour - Multiple Grammy nominated, Peabody and Emmy Award-winning actor, writer, producer, director and comedian Craig Ferguson, best known as the former host of CBS’s Late, Late Show, returns in an all-new stand-up show.



11/8/24               New Jersey Ballet: Creative Forces: Peck, Robbins and more - Join New Jersey Ballet for Creative Forces, featuring Justin Peck’s dynamic Murder Ballades and Jerome Robbins’ elegant In the Night.

11/13/24             Ben Folds: Paper Airplane Request Tour - Widely regarded as one of the major music influencers of our generation, Ben Folds has created an enormous body of genre-bending music that includes pop albums with Ben Folds Five, multiple solo albums, and numerous collaborative records. In this solo concert, Folds encourages fans to send their song requests to the stage via paper airplanes.

11/22/24             KC and The Sunshine Band - KC and The Sunshine Band formed in 1973 with one single purpose: to create instant happiness through music — and the group has done just that, topping the charts with singles including “Give It Up,” “That’s the Way (I Like It),” “Please Don’t Go,” “Get Down Tonight,” “Boogie Shoes,” “I’m Your Boogie Man” and “(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty,” tallying worldwide sales of over 100 million!

11/27/24             Manhattan Comedy Night - Enjoy some laughs with our popular stand-up series showcasing the rising stars of comedy. Mature content, language. Adults only.

11/29/24             A Charlie Brown Christmas: Live on Stage - Everyone’s favorite TV holiday classic comes to life onstage as Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy, Linus, and the rest Peanuts characters uncover the true meaning of Christmas.  Adapted from Charles M. Schulz’s Emmy and Peabody award-winning story, and featuring the unforgettable music of Vince Guaraldi, there’s no better way for families to discover the magic of the season!

11/30/24             Mannheim Steamroller Christmas by Chip Davis - The spirit of the season comes alive with the signature sound of the top-selling Christmas music artist in history! America’s favorite holiday celebration for four decades features the beloved Christmas music of Mannheim Steamroller along with dazzling multimedia effects that bring the magic of the holidays to life.



12/3/24               The Sensational Soul Cruisers: Destination Soultown Holiday Show - It’s the ultimate holiday party! The Sensational Soul Cruisers deliver a festive mix of iconic classic soul and Motown music, along with renditions of some of your favorites holiday songs by The Temptations, Jackson 5, The Drifters, Donny Hathaway and Stevie Wonder – plus more soulful gems and surprises.

12/7/24               A Johnny Mathis Christmas - Celebrating 68 years in the music industry, legendary holiday icon Johnny Mathis sings his greatest Holiday hits, romantic ballads, and personal favorites. 12/13-26/24      New Jersey Ballet's Nutcracker - New Jersey Ballet’s beloved annual tradition enchants youngsters and grown-ups alike with splendid dancing, eye-popping special effects and a touch of holiday magic, set to Tchaikovsky’s iconic score performed live by New Jersey Symphony. Ages 4+



1/4/25                  Bobby Collins with special guest Maureen Langan - Comedian Bobby Collins has an ability to truthfully translate the human condition as he exposes the humor of day-to-day situations as well as serving up resplendent rants on world events. 1/19/25               Cool School & Hard Bop: The Jazz at Lincon Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis - Featuring iconic works from Miles Davis, Art Blakey, Max Roach, and more, Cool School & Hard Bop — music-directed by JLCO saxophonist Sherman Irby and pianist Joe Block — explores the enduring appeal of mid-century jazz through striking arrangements, mellow tones, virtuosic vocabulary, and a commitment to the blues.

3/21/25               The National Dance Company of Ireland: Rhythm of the Dance - Celebrate all things Irish in this high-energy production featuring award-winning step dancers, musicians and vocalists who bring to life the vibrant spirit of the Emerald Isle.

3/23/25:              New Jersey Ballet:  Once Upon a Time - New Jersey Ballet’s Once Upon A Time is a family show taking its audience on a comical tour through some of classical ballet’s greatest stories.

3/25/25               Rhythm India: Bollywood and Beyond - Rhythm India takes you on a journey of dance and celebration through Bollywood and beyond. Experience joyous dance, vibrant costumes, dynamic music and soulful rhythms echoing heartbeats of royal palaces and sacred temples, desert villages and modern stages. Rhythm India was created by World Choreography Award nominee and Telly Award-winning director and choreographer Joya Kazi, whose company of dancers has been seen on screens from Bollywood to Hollywood.

3/27/25               Terry Fator: On the Road Again - For over a decade, Terry Fator has sold out night after night in Las Vegas with a show featuring his cast of characters that includes everyone from an Impersonating Turtle to Elton John to Elvis. In addition to winning America’s Got Talent, Terry has won Las Vegas’s best show, best all-around performer, best family show and best overall show.

4/9/25                  Dr. Temple Grandin: The Way I See It: A Personal Look at Autism and Asperger’s - Dr. Temple Grandin, Ph.D., is one of the most accomplished and well-known adults with autism in the world. Dr. Grandin gets down to the real issues of autism, the ones parents, teachers and individuals on the spectrum face every day. 5/3/25                  Itzhak Perlman in Recital - No violinist more beautifully captures and conveys the joy of music than Itzhak Perlman, the undeniable reigning virtuoso of violin. In this extraordinary recital, he is joined by his musical partner of 25 years, Rohan De Silva, in a program celebrating the classical tradition through Perlman’s insightful and modern mastery of the violin and De Silva’s ingeniously fluid accompaniment.

5/13/25               Cat Kid Comic Club: The Musical - This madcap musical based on Dav Pilkey’s (Captain Underpants, Dogman) irreverently hilarious book series finds Cat Kid and Molly Pollywog starting an epic club to teach 21 rambunctious baby frogs how to make their own comics, flipping out their fishy father Flippy in the process!

5/17-18/25        New Jersey Ballet: Timeless Masterpieces: Swan Lake Act II and more - Join New Jersey Ballet for Timeless Masterpieces, an enchanting evening featuring Swan Lake Act 2 and more exciting repertory to be announced soon.



6/26/25               Isaac Mizrahi - Actor, host, writer, designer and producer Isaac Mizrahi’s acclaimed concert performances have been described by The New York Times as “determined to challenge the cultural status quo and help blaze a path into a more liberated future where few subjects are off-limits.” His one-of-a-kind show brings together comedy, commentary, and an array of classic and soon-to-be classic songs from Stephen Sondheim to Blondie, from Comden & Green to Madonna. Mayo Performing Arts Center (MPAC), a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, presents a wide range of programs that entertain, enrich, and educate the diverse population of the region and enhance the economic vitality of Northern New Jersey. The 2024-2025 season is made possible, in part, by a grant the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a Partner Agency of the National Endowment for the Arts, as well as support received from the F.M. Kirby Foundation, The Blanche and Irving Laurie Foundation and numerous corporations, foundations and individuals. Mayo Performing Arts Center was named 2016 Outstanding Historic Theatre by the League of Historic American Theatres, and is ranked in the top 50 mid-sized performing arts centers by Pollstar Magazine.

RVCC Planetarium to Present New Show About Traveling to Mars

(BRANCHBURG, NJ) -- The Raritan Valley Community College Planetarium in Branchburg will offer a new show in July, "Mars: The Ultimate Voyage," which will be presented Fridays, July 12 and 19 at 8:00pm. Recommended for ages 8 to adult, the show explores the question: What will it take to get to Mars?
