(MAPLEWOOD, NJ) -- The Maplewood Strollers, the resident theater company of The Burgdorff Center for the Performing Arts in Maplewood, present Children Of Eden - a musical of Biblical proportions!  Stephen Schwartz’s epic tale of the triumphs and trials of family, and the beauty of the human spirit all come to life in across three weekends from November 3-19, 2023.

The musical by Stephen Schwarz was based on the Book of Genesis. The production is directed by Carol Cornicelli with musical direction by Michael Nuzzo. Adam, Eve, Noah and the "Father" who created them deal with the headstrong, cataclysmic actions of their respective children. The show ultimately delivers a bittersweet. but inspiring. message: that "the hardest part of love... is letting go."

Performances take place November 3-4, 10- 11, 17-18 at 8:00pm, and on November 5, 12, and 19 at 2:00pm at The Burgdorff Center for the Performing Arts (10 Durand Road) in Maplewood, New Jersey.

The Strollers first appeared on the scene in 1932 when two Columbia High School teachers and some of their former students started a community-based theater group. The name was derived from the term used to describe early English troupes of traveling thespians. The Strollers was formally incorporated as a non-profit organization in 1936, declaring itself “an organization to advance the art of the theater...and to provide an opportunity for artistic and dramatic education and enjoyment for its members and the community.”

Since 1989, The Strollers has been the Resident Theater Company at the Burgdorff Center for the Performing Arts in the heart of historic Maplewood Village. Since taking up residence in this lovely French provincial building, The Strollers has undertaken major renovations to the building’s interior, including building a stage, installing the lighting grid and sound system, and making the facility handicapped accessible
