While mixing her next album, Jersey Shore singer-songwriter Lisa Bouchelle has dropped a new video for “Fever” from her 2022 full-length debut LP “Jump In.”
The sexy cover of the Little Willie John classic is the Makin Waves Song of the Week.
As the Makin Waves Song of the Week, “Fever” also can be heard between 6 and 8 p.m. on Jan 10 on “Radio Jersey at ThePenguinRocks.com. If you miss it, you can tune in any time in the archives at The Penguin and Mixcloud.
The clip for “Fever” was filmed at McLoone's Supper Club in Asbury Park, where Lisa will perform Jan. 19 as part of the first set of Light Of Day Winterfest’s Songwriters by the Sea III with Marc Jonson, Anthony D'Amato, Glenn Burtnik, Emily Grove and Danielia Cotton.
“After the success of the first video, we thought we'd better make this one visually unique as well, so I used AI on parts of the footage we shot, and then did editing to put it together, which was a very time-consuming process,” said Hal B. Selzer, Lisa’s manager, bassist and video producer-director. “But the result was pretty wild, and in the two-and-a-half months it's been out, it's already closing in on 400,000 views.”
The song also features guitarist Joel Hoekstra (Whitesnake, TSO), drummer Shawn Pelton and guitarist-keyboardist Stephen DeAcutis, who co-produced with Lisa and Hal, who are joined in the live/animated video by drummer Rich Scannella, guitarist Dan Neary and keyboardist Johnny Knollwood. The clip was shot and edited by Roshon Tyson of 2677 Films.
The first video for “Jump In” was “Love Is for the Making,” which premiered as a Makin Waves Song of the Week three years ago.
“You were actually the first to feature it, and that started it on its journey,” Hal said. “It reached No. 17 on the Billboard A/C chart, and stayed on the chart for 14 weeks, an impressive feat for an indie artist. It was used in TikTok videos that got over 4.6 million views; it was then picked up by iHeart for streaming on the iHeart app, and now being used in the Netflix show ‘Virgin River.’ And the eye-catching video we produced for it is now over 2.2 million views.”
In addition to Hal, who has played bass for Joan Jett, Lisa’s next album, "Vandals, Thieves & Lovers,” will feature such Americana greats as Grammy winners Amanda Shires and Larry Campbell, Zac Brown Band’s Clay Cook, Doyle Grisham from Jimmy Buffett's Corral Reefer Band, Rich Scannella (Tonic), Tim Carbone (Railroad Earth), plus local legends Gary Oleyar (Loggins & Messina), Everett Bradley (Bon Jovi), Arlan Feiles, Ernie White, who came up in the Trenton music scene with Lisa and, once again, Stephen DeAcutis (Corey Glover, Cyndi Lauper, Gladys Knight), who’s mixing with Niko Bolas (Neil Young, Melissa Etheridge, Warren Zevon, Rod Stewart). The LP is scheduled for a May release.
In the meantime, you also can enjoy Lisa live on Jan. 17 at Yesterday's in Mamora and Jan. 18, The Waterfront, Forked River.
