Low Cut Connie announced a distribution agreement with Dark Star Pictures for his hybrid documentary / concert film Art Dealers. Dark Star Pictures has acquired North American rights to the film and will release it theatrically starting in early September, followed by a VOD/digital and physical media release on October 1, 2024.

Low Cut Connie has also announced a fall headline tour in support of the film release. The tour will kick off on October 10 in Portland, ME and will make stops in Boston, Jersey City, the historic First Avenue in Minneapolis, MN and many more. All tickets are on sale now.

“I am ecstatic that Art Dealers got picked up by Dark Star Pictures; they are a killer company taking risks out there, and I'm excited to work with them to spread the gospel,” says Adam Wiener, Low Cut Connie frontman and the film’s co-director. “I am blown away by the response to the film and the performances in it and I can't wait for more people to see it.”

Art Dealers is a testament to the raw energy and unfiltered creativity that defines both the band and this film,” says Dark Star’s President Michael Repsch. “We’re proud to bring this electrifying experience to audiences nationwide, capturing not only their powerful music but also the essence of their journey."

Art Dealers premiered last year at the Richmond International Film Festival last year where it took home their 2023 Artistic Vision Award. The premiere was followed by screenings at the Philadelphia Film Festival and Minneapolis’ Sound Unseen Festival.

Rolling Stone spoke with Weiner about the film, proclaiming “As a music doc, Art Dealers succeeds on the strength of the musicians it profiles: not just the group’s flamboyant frontman, but the ragtag bunch of players who join him as he schleps his piano around the country. As a concert film, it expertly summons the sweaty revival that is a Low Cut Connie gig by culling the best from three shows at New York’s Sony Hall and jazz outpost the Blue Note.”

“Experiencing Weiner in his element, whether on the new record Art Dealers, its accompanying film, or live, is a gift of melody, messages, and community.” - No Depression

Art Dealers hits the heart, head, and groin with equal force.” - AllMusic

Art Dealers may be the band’s masterpiece” - Nashville Scene

EVENT PREVIEWS

A Girl Can Touch the Sky, by Ravinol Chambers, is an immersive documentary that takes the audience deep into the culture and sometimes obtrusive gender roles across India. Chambers who was once a monk in the city of Vrindavan, India helps to shine a lot on the situations that are most pressing to many girls in the villages of India. As he and a crew travel down the west coast of India, they hope to raise awareness about the difficulties girls in the area have in accessing education. The documentary provides a manifold of interviews that discuss the education topic for girls from different points of view. Chambers shows a plethora of conflicting opinions that help the viewer become entrenched in the complex culture of India. We see disappointed fathers, hopeful girls, and educators speak on the matter at hand.
