(BOONTON, NJ) -- LoMotion Live will present a reading of Goblins & Gates: A Pen & Paper Musical - a a brand new and completely original show in development with libretto by Michael Campbell and music/lyrics by Gonzalo Valencia-Peña - on Sunday, April 30, 2023 at 3:00pm. The reading takes place at The Parsippany Arts Center. Admission is free with a donations suggested.
The musical revolves around a young game master who takes her friends and family on the roleplaying adventure of a lifetime to protect her father's legacy - his game store. The ultimate goal is to merge the wonderful worlds of musical theater and game-based world building into a project unlike any other!
Every show, every play once started out as a new work. It came from the creator's mind and heart and soul, to the pen to paper, to the table read to staged reading, to the workshop to the previews to opening night. Ever wonder what happens when a cast first gets together to read a script for the first time? Here's your chance. Be a fly on the wall as you join us and the cast of the New York Theatre Festivals Goblins & Gates Siri's down at LoMotion Live to read through the Act 1 for the very first time! Proceeds for this reading will be donated through Fractured Atlas to help support this new musical! Support theatre, support new works, support NJ artists!
The reading features Miguel Sierra, Rachel Muñoz, Hunter Semrau, Erwin Sebastian, Alex Carr, Anna Langlois, and Angel Rodela. Directed by Gonzalo Valencia-Peña; Choreography by Danielle Valencia; Music Director Barry Spatz; Associate Music Director Bruce De La Cruz.

(BEACH HAVEN, NJ) -- Surflight Theatre is presenting the beloved musical theatre classic South Pacific from June 19 through July 7, 2024. It takes place during World War II where Nellie, a nurse from Arkansas, falls in love with a local French estate owner, Emile. Meanwhile, Lt. Joe Cable denies himself the fulfillment of a future with an innocent girl with whom he's fallen in love. When Emile is recruited to accompany Joe on a dangerous mission that claims Joe's life, Nellie realizes that life is too short not to seize her own chance for happiness.
