(HADDONFIELD, NJ) -- Haddonfield Plays and Players presents Assassins from September 20 through October 5, 2024. Assassins explores the lives of nine men and women who either killed (or tried to kill) one of the Presidents of the United States. It features Music and Lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by John Weidman.
From John Wilkes Booth to Lee Harvey Oswald and beyond, the stories of our country’s most successful and would-be assassins intersect in unexpected ways, creating a powerful, yet unnervingly funny look at some of the most shocking moments in U.S. history.
Performances take place Friday, September 20 at 8:00pm; Saturday, September 21 at 8:00pm; Sunday, September 22 at 3:00pm; Thursday, September 26 at 8:00pm; Friday, September 27 at 8:00pm; Saturday, September 28 at 3:00pm & 8:00pm; Sunday, September 29 at 3:00pm; Thursday, October 3 at 8:00pm; Friday, October 4 at 8:00pm; and Saturday, October 5 at 3:00pm & 8:00pm. The original off-Broadway production in 1991 was nominated for six Drama Desk Awards including Outstanding Musical. A 2004 Broadway production won five Tony Awards including Best Revival of a Musical, three Drama Desk Awards, and two Outer Critics Circle Awards.
Haddonfield Plays and Players is a gathering of dedicated individuals who come together to provide quality theater at an affordable price to a wide range of Delaware Valley audiences, as well as to provide a creative outlet for non-professionals, all in an atmosphere of personal and social enrichment that is open to all persons with a commitment to non-profit theater. They offer a wide variety of productions, from comedies to mysteries to musicals. Besides their normal season productions, they also produce shows aimed specifically at children and families as well as special productions for school groups, like their enormously successful Number the Stars program.
