Thursday, August 29 - Wonder Bar presents Jackson Pines with Hunter Root on Thursday. (ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- On Thursday, August 29th, the Wonder Bar is hosting one of the last Asbury Jams Concert of the Summer season, presented by Nectar's Live: Jackson Pines and Hunter Root at the legendary seaside venue.

An Interview with Ritchie Blackmore and Candice Night of Blackmore's Night. Long before Ritchie Blackmore and Candice Night created the renaissance folk rock band Blackmore's Night, Ritchie told Guitar World that he longed to play medieval music.

Saturday, August 31 - NJ Clearwater Festival Rolls Into Labor Day Weekend In Asbury Park Celebrating Music and Mother Earth. (ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- The Wag, Chuck Lambert Band, and Poppa John Bug Band are among the many performers bringing their music to Sunset Park in Asbury Park for the 49th Annual Clearwater Festival Labor Day Weekend (Saturday, August 31 and Sunday, September 1, 2024). The free, fun-filled, family-friendly event is the longest-running environmental festival in New Jersey.

Saturday, August 31 - The New Jersey Clearwater Festival to Return to Asbury Park Labor Day Weekend. (ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- The New Jersey Friends of Clearwater (NJFC) has announced that they are returning to Asbury Park on Labor Day Weekend August 31 and September 1, 2024 for their 49th Annual NJ Clearwater Festival. The celebration of the environment with music, song and information about how to protect it is the state's largest eco-festival. Hours are 1:00pm to 8:00pm on Saturday and 1:00pm to 5:00pm on Sunday.

Sunday, September 1 - The Newton Theatre presents Asleep At The Wheel. (NEWTON, NJ) -- The Newton Theatre presents Asleep At The Wheel on Sunday, September 1, 2024 at 7:00pm. For over fifty years, Asleep at the Wheel's Ray Benson has been traversing the globe as an ambassador of Western swing music and introducing its irresistible sound to generation after generation.

Sunday, September 1 - PNC Bank Arts Center presents Goose. (HOLMDEL, NJ) -- Connecticut rock band Goose comes to the PNC Banks Arts Center in Holmdel on Sunday, September 1, 2024 as part of a US tour spanning the country with dates throughout the fall. All this comes after an extensive spring tour, Goose's first with their new drummer, Cotter Ellis; Ellis made his debut with the band in four stunning, sold out nights in April at the legendary Capitol Theatre in Portchester, NY. Showtime is 7:30pm.

THEATRE

East Lynne Theater Company presents "Dial M for Murder". (CAPE MAY, NJ) -- East Lynne Theater Company in Cape May will produce an updated version of "Dial M for Murder" by Jeffrey Hatcher for five weeks this summer. Performances take place Wednesdays through Saturdays from July 31 to August 31, 2024 at 7:00pm.

CAT presents tales from Kate Chopin, Will Rogers, O. Henry, and Harlem. (CAPE MAY, NJ) -- A husband questions the ancestry of his wife, ghostly happenings, Will Rogers' timeless wit, O. Henry's famous twists at the end, and Harlem in the 1920’s. These are some of the upcoming tales to be told by Classic American Tales' (CAT) "Tales at the Dormer House."

First Avenue Playhouse presents "True West" by Sam Shepard. (ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ) -- First Avenue Playhouse presents True West by Sam Shepard across three weekends (August 17-18, August 23-25, and August 30-31). Brothers Austin and Lee seem like opposites. Austin is a hardworking scriptwriter and Lee is a homeless Thief. When a Hollywood producer picks Lee's idea for a 'true-to-life' western over Austin's script, the brothers turn on each other. A writing session gets ugly in this dark comedy.

Music Mountain Theatre presents "The Scarlet Pimpernel". (LAMBERTVILLE, NJ) -- Music Mountain Theatre presents The Scarlet Pimpernel, the swashbuckling adventure based on the novel by Baroness Orczy, over a three-weekend run from August 23 to September 8, 2024. The Scarlet Pimpernel is a colorful window into 18th-century French and British history.

National Alliance for Musical Theatre Announces Grant Recipients for 2023-2024 Frank Young Fund Production & Development Projects + Impact & Exploration Initiatives. (NEW YORK, NY) -- The National Alliance for Musical Theatre has announced the 12 Award Recipients for the 2023-2024 Frank Young Fund for New Musicals Project Development & Production Grants and the 7 Award Recipients for the 2024-2025 Impact & Exploration Fund.

Theatre Rock Live! Debuts at The Sieminski Theater's Cabaret Series with Featured Artist, Tony Award Nominee Christiane Noll. (BASKING RIDGE, NJ) -- The Sieminski Theater Cabaret Series presents a special engagement of Theatre Rock in Theatre Rock Live! with special guest Christine Noll, on Friday, August 30, 2024. Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey presents Jane Austen's "Sense and Sensibility". (MADISON, NJ) -- Long before Bridgerton sparked desires and ignited our screens, a young, new writer set the hearts of England ablaze with the deep longing of her compelling characters. Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility tells the captivating tale of the Dashwood sisters as they attempt to navigate financial strife, would-be suitors, and the rigid edicts of English society following the death of their father. Jessica Swale’s elegant stage adaptation of this beloved classic overflows with humor and style. The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey will present Sense and Sensibility at their F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre on the campus of Drew University from September 4-22, 2024.

NJ Rep presents the World Premiere of "The Other American" by D.W. Gregory. (LONG BRANCH, NJ) -- New Jersey Repertory Company (NJ Rep) will continue its 27th season with the World Premiere of The Other American by D.W. Gregory (Radium Girls) , directed by James Glossman. Inspired by a true story, the play is set in Paris in 1952. The production runs from September 5-29, 2024.

The Broadway Theatre of Pitman presents "9 To 5 The Musical". (PITMAN, NJ) -- The Broadway Theatre of Pitman presents 9 To 5 The Musical weekends throughout September 2024. Based on the seminal 1980 hit movie, it features music and lyrics by Dolly Parton and book by Patricia Resnick. Set in the late 1970s, this hilarious story of friendship and revenge in the Rolodex era is outrageous, thought-provoking and even a little romantic.

Tuesday, August 27 - Stockton University to Host Screening of Documentary on Holocaust Denial in Lithuania. (ATLANTIC CITY, NJ) -- The Stockton University Sara and Sam Schoffer Holocaust Resource Center will present a screening of the award-winning documentary "J'Accuse! A Cry from the Killing Pits of Lithuania" that details a new form of Holocaust denial in Lithuania. The screening takes place on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 at the Fannie Lou Hamer Event Room at Stockton Atlantic City (3711 Atlantic Ave). The event begins at 5:00pm. Admission is free.

Thursday, August 29 - Lighthouse International Film Society to Screen "My Old Ass" on Thursday. (LOVELADIES, NJ) -- To create buzz prior to its national release on September 13th, Lighthouse International Film Society will screen My Old Ass at LBI's Foundation of the Arts and Sciences on Thursday, August 29, 2024 at 8:00pm. Admission is free but advance registration is required.

COMMUNITY

Thursday, August 29 - AirFest 2024 takes place in Cape May August 29th to September 1st. (CAPE MAY, NJ) -- This year AirFest features all NEW AIRCRAFT, as well as a new format. AirFest will run Thursday, August 29 through Sundy, September 1, 2024 at the Naval Air Station Wildwood Aviation Museum and includes an F-16 flyover on Friday. As always, AirFest will feature amazing entertainment including live music by Animal House and Devlin, Ted Schwartz’s WWII radio show, food trucks, Beer & Wine Garden, and free caricatures and face painting.

Friday, August 30 - Stoutsburg Sourland African American Museum Teams Up with Somerset Patriots to Honor New York Black Yankees and Negro Leagues. (SKILLMAN, NJ) -- Stoutsburg Sourland African American Museum (SSAAM) is proud to announce its 2nd annual partnership with the Somerset Patriots for a fundraising event honoring the legacy of the New York Black Yankees and the Negro Leagues. This event will occur at TD Bank Ballpark on Friday, August 30, 2024, featuring a special game between the Somerset Patriots (NYY) and the Reading Fightin' Phils (PHI).
