Cranford Radio talks with CDC Theatre about "Head Over Heels"

originally published: 10/10/2023

(CRANFORD, NJ) -- Bernie Wagenblast talks with three people behind the production of Head Over Heels at CDC Theatre on an episode of the Cranford Radio podcast. His guests include Sean Lough (director), Jannette Fisher (Mopsa), Sean Lynch-Littlejohn (Basilius) and Hannah Elarmo (music director). Head Over Heels is a 16th century story filled with music from the 1980s female rock band, The Go-Go’s. The musical runs weekends starting October 13 and running through the 28th.

CDC Theatre in Cranford opens their 105th season with Head Over Heels. This bold musical comedy comes from the visionaries that rocked Broadway with Avenue Q and Spring Awakening. The laugh-out-loud love story includes the hit songs, "We Got the Beat," "Our Lips Are Sealed," "Vacation," Belinda Carlisle's "Heaven is a Place on Earth" and "Mad About You."

Head Over Heels is an hilarious, exuberant celebration of love; the story of what happens when the royal court of Arcadia is threatened by the mystical Oracle of Delphi with the loss of its “Beat,” the divine power that ensures the kingdom’s prosperity. King Basilius, whose own title is at stake, forces the members of the royal family and court on a journey to the woods in an attempt to escape the Oracle’s seemingly unavoidable prophecies. Through a plot containing usurped kingship, unlikely lovers, and gender-fluid disguises, Head Over Heels preaches unconditional love and acceptance of yourself and everyone you know and uses some of the greatest pop rock hits of the late 20th century.

Tickets are available for purchase online. Accessible parking is available and the theater is equipped with one wheelchair accessible restroom in the main lobby. Wheelchair accessible seating is available. CDC Theatre is located at 78 Winans Avenue in Cranford, NJ, Exit 136 off the Garden State Parkway.
