(NEWARK, NJ) -- Clinton Hill Community Action (CHCA) is hosting Jazz in the Streets this Thursday, July 13 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm at 30 Demarest Street in Newark’s Clinton Hill. The evening will include live music and dancing with featured Jazz artist and Clinton Hill’s own Stephen Fuller of the Girard and Randolph Place Block Association.
This event is part of their artsXchange series with NJPAC. They are excited to offer such high-quality entertainment right in the heart of Clinton Hill with our beautiful community farm as a backdrop. In addition, attendees will enjoy light refreshments.
“This is a great opportunity for South Ward residents to be treated to a magical night of Jazz, dancing, food, and community,” says artsXchange assistant Margie Johnson. “Clinton Hill deserves a beautiful event like Jazz in the Street and we are proud to make it happen for residents.”
Officer Tanner of the Newark Police Department’s 5th Precinct says he is excited about Jazz in the Street because “it will be a chance for the community to come together and have a good time.” He also noted this is a great opportunity for members of the community to enjoy time with and get to know members of the local police department who will be in attendance and, yes, dancing.
Johnson hopes this will only be the beginning of a longer series of entertainment events that Clinton Hill residents will be able to enjoy. “We want to do more of this, so come out and dance and snap your fingers with us!”

Clinton Hill Community Action (CHCA) is a nonprofit, community development organization that engages residents and partners to revitalize the Clinton Hill neighborhood in Newark’s South Ward. We believe this work must be led by residents, alongside partners who understand the centrality of the role of residents in naming challenges, identifying solutions that are most responsive to their hopes and aspirations, and collaboratively acting for sustained progress.
CHCA facilitates this collaborative action and advocacy with a focus on quality, affordable housing, food security, economic empowerment, and environmental justice. Since our founding in 2019, we have worked to build trust in the community and engage residents to address long standing issues.
