(HACKENSACK, NJ) -- Cindy Yoon is launching her studio (Studio Hiedra) and presenting it as a Pop Up Shop on August 6 from 10:00am to 4:00pm at Riverside Gallery, located in the Riverside Mall.
Having worked in the corporate design world for years, Cindy Yoon founded Studio Hiedra (pronounced ee-ae-dra) to pursue her passion for jewelry. Her aesthetic approach to jewelry is stimulated by her love of the process. She works with the ancient technique of lost wax casting, a process where each piece is hand carved in wax and then cast in precious metals. The creation process is intuitive with a playful approach to the design process, where each piece is imagined and worked through various techniques that create the unique organic forms that become miniature wearable pieces of art. All pieces are designed and made in NY or Seoul, South Korea as she travels back and forth throughout the year.
Their Inspiration comes from everyday aspects of nature like the sun, the sea and water. Using traditional craftmanship techniques each piece is carefully hand crafted, therefore, no two pieces are ever the same. These organic shapes and textures celebrate the marks of the maker and they are meant to be a recollection of memories or a celebration of moments captured in time. They aim to create a timeless and modern heirloom that mix form and simplicy to be cherished forever.
'Hiedra' means 'Ivy' in Spanish and it symbolizes eternal love, friendship and affection.
