(RANDOLPH, NJ) -- Brundage Park Playhouse presents Neil Simon's Barefoot in the Park across two weekends (May 24-26 and May 31 - June 2, 2024). The play is about Paul and Corie Bratter - newlyweds in every sense of the word. He’s a straight-as-an-arrow lawyer and she's a free spirit always looking for the latest kick...
Their new apartment is her most recent find – too expensive with bad plumbing and in need of a paint job. After a six-day honeymoon, they get a surprise visit from Corie’s loopy mother, Ethel, and decide to play matchmaker during a dinner with their eccentric neighbor-in-the-attic, Victor Velasco, where everything that can go wrong does.
Directed by J Cavaliere, the cast includes Owen McKenna (Paul Bratter), Alexis Rizzo (Corie Bratter), Grace Lyttle (Ethel Banks), Russ Crespolini (Victor Velasco), and Joe McCaig (Telephone Man).
Performances take place May 24, 25, 31 & June 1 at 7:00pm; and May 26 & June 2 at 3:00pm. Tickets are available for purchase online. Online ticket prices are $15 for children under 12, seniors 62 years and above and military personnel with ID. All other online tickets are $20. Please note: a $2 handling fee will be added to tickets purchased at the box office. For more information call the theater at (973) 989-7092. The Brundage Park Playhouse is located at 2 Bungalow Lane in Randolph, New Jersey.
Brundage Park Playhouse is sponsored by the Randolph Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services. It had its beginning in the fall of 1978 when the Randolph Recreation Committee approved the Randolph community theater program. In the summer of 1979, the theater performed its first production, the musical Pippin. For the following three summers, several musicals and one drama were presented using the Randolph High School auditorium.
During the fall of 1982, with the help of the Kiwanis Club of Randolph, a proposal was made to convert several buildings in Brundage Park into a home for the theater. Since that time, a hard-working crew of volunteers and staff has converted these buildings into a rehearsal studio, costume shop, scene shop and their present Playhouse.
They work very hard to maintain professional atmosphere and comfortable surroundings. The Township provides space and support staff, and the playhouse continues to raise funds for renovations, improvements and general operations to keep it a self-sustaining program. The theater has become a central gathering place for people interested in the performing arts.
They provide a wide range of theatrical experiences including major productions, children’s theater, performing arts classes and several summer theater camp programs. During the course of their seasons, you can expect to see a wide variety of main stage shows including productions designed specifically for children (For Kids by Kids), comedies, dramas, musicals, classical works, innovative contemporary plays: in short, something for everyone!
Their professional staff, in conjunction with many volunteers and the Brundage Park Advisory Board, works cooperatively to make Brundage Park Playhouse an entertaining and enriching resource. They hope to continue the evolution of their theater and look to expand the involvement of residents in their organization.
Brundage Park Playhouse is committed to the patrons and its primary goal, which is to service the community by bringing quality entertainment and innovative programming as a convenient and affordable venue. Volunteers are always needed in assisting as ushers and support staff. Please call the playhouse at 973-989-7092 if you are interested in joining our dedicated BPP family.
