originally published: 08/27/2024

(MONMOUTH COUNTY, NJ) -- Brookdale Community College is proud to announce that Katelyn P. Amundson, Director of Athletics and Recreation, has been awarded the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region XIX Augie Eosso Award. This accolade, the highest honor bestowed by Region XIX, recognizes individuals who exemplify outstanding service and dedication to the region.

Amundson received the award during the annual Fall Region XIX meetings in King of Prussia, PA. Her recognition is a testament to her unwavering commitment to Brookdale Community College, NJCAA Region XIX, and the surrounding communities.

"Katie's enthusiasm and commitment to our student-athletes and the entire Brookdale community knows no boundaries," said Brookdale President David M. Stout, Ph.D. "This award marks another significant achievement in her distinguished career, where she has consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership, dedication, and passion for athletics and student development. She continues to excel in this role, empowering our student-athletes to achieve their aspirations in and out of the classroom."

Amundson's influence extends beyond Brookdale. She has played a key role on the NJCAA Division III Oversight Committee, shaping the direction of Division III athletics across the NJCAA. Her initiatives have enhanced the student-athlete experience nationally. She has also served as chair of the NJCAA Division III Women's Soccer Committee and, for the 2022-23 academic year, took on the role of Region XIX Women's Director, further demonstrating her commitment to advancing collegiate athletics.

Under Amundson's leadership, Brookdale's athletic program continues to thrive, with the Jersey Blues earning the NJCAA Region XIX Champions of Character Award for the 8th time in 2024. This award highlights the college's commitment to character development, sportsmanship, and community involvement.
