(BURLINGTON CITY, NJ) -- Bridge Players Theatre Company, the Burlington City-based community theatre group, is proud to begin its 2024-2025 "Season of Change" with Dinner With Friends, opening September 6 and continuing weekends through September 21. Written by Donald Margulies, Dinner With Friends was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2000.
It is a candid, often-funny drama that explores the bittersweet side of marriage and friendship between two couples. When one couple reveals they are headed for divorce, the bonds of friendship are put to the test. Through recollections, arguments, and revelations of past pain, each of these four adults rediscovers the meaning behind their connection to one another.
Directed by Alice Weber of Fairless Hills, PA, with assistant direction by Jeanne Wayman of Delran, Dinner With Friends features the talents of Stephen Kreal of Collingswood (Gabe), Judi Vitello of Marlton (Karen), Jamie Lynn Hill of Cinnaminson (Beth), and Jim Perry of Hatboro, PA (Tom).
“Dinner With Friends is one of my favorite shows,” commented Weber. “It deals with relationships and questions brought up when lives suddenly change. It's something we’ve all experienced in our lives to some degree. You leave the show thinking and talking about what you've seen, and maybe considering what your life would be like if the events depicted on stage happened to you.”
All performances will take place at Broad Street United Methodist Church, 36 East Broad Street, Burlington, NJ. Show dates and times: September 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21 at 8:00pm, and September 8 and 15 at 3:00pm. The September 20 performance will be sign interpreted. Tickets are $25 for all performances; group rates are available. For tickets and more information, please visit bridgeplayerstheatre.com/tickets.
The production also heralds the return of Bridge Players’ dessert theatre presentations, where audience members will be offered a selection of sweet treats at intermission; coffee, tea and water will be available. Dessert is included with admission.
Dinner With Friends is presented by special arrangement with Broadway Licensing, LLC, servicing the Dramatists Play Service collection.
