Bread & Roses Film Festival Hosts Music Fundraising Event

(ASBURY PARK, NJ) -- The film and music community are coming together in downtown Asbury Park on Saturday, July 20, 2024 for a special event featuring several local musicians performing a fundraising show for Bread & Roses, Jersey Shore’s only female-centric film festival.

The show will take place at Art629 Gallery, (631 Cookman Ave, Asbury Park, NJ) from 5:00pm to 10:00pm. There is a suggested donation of $10 per person, which goes to support the mission and operating costs of the Bread & Roses Film Festival. Various band merchandise, supporting the musicians directly, will be available for purchase on-site or online.

The event includes an incredible line up (subject to change) of local musicians playing in support of women in film, while showcasing the diversity in Asbury Park’s artistic community. Artists scheduled to perform include Shayne Desena, Martin Howth, Welcome Matts, Carlotta Schmidt, Rang Cherries, Sean Navat Balanon, Trust Fund Ozu, and Renee Maskin.

Vocal looping artist, Martin Howth, is the lead organizer for the event, in collaboration with Marci Mazzarotto, founder and executive director of the Bread & Roses Film Festival.

“I am so happy to be a part of this event,” said Martin Howth. “Our intention is to raise funds and shine a spotlight on Bread & Roses, but to also foster a sense of community among local musicians, artists, and filmmakers. I am thrilled for any opportunity for connection between and within creative our communities.”

The Bread and Roses Film Festival, which is run by an all-female team and is fully curated by a panel of all-female judges, will be returning to Asbury Park on October 18-20, and is supported by Georgian Court University, and Precipice Collective, the festival’s non-profit fiscal sponsor.

“I am absolutely thrilled to collaborate with my immensely talented friend and artist in putting together this special event,” said Marci Mazzarotto. “I am also so grateful to Art629 Gallery for sharing their space with us, and to every single one of these amazing artists in their swift willingness to share their time and talent with our community.”
