Acc Gallery presents Exhibit Inspired by Homage Klimt

(TENAFLY, NJ) -- Acc Gallery presents a special exhibition under the title,“KISS”, for Homage Klimt, from October 11-31, 2022. Gustav Klimt was a well-known Austrian painter from the late 19th to early 20th centuries, who formed the Vienna Secession and was a representative Art Nouveau painter and symbolist who did not put the boundaries between decorative art and fine art.

Although the 10 artists participating in the exhibition are working in different styles, this exhibition is intended to either be influenced by their own work among Klimt's works or to experimentally try new things through the theme of this special exhibition.

Klimt This exhibition was planned with the hope that it would serve as an opportunity to renew the artist's spirit as artists living in the present age, the spirit of which Klimt wanted to reinvent and rejuvenate rather than follow the traditional ones of the past through his works.

There will be an opening reception on Saturday, October 15 from 6:00pm-9:00pm.

Participating artists include: Hobong Kim, Namjoo Kim, Bongjung Kim, Teasook Jung, Christine Seo, Mikyung Seo, Joohyun Kang, Heesoo Kim, Rokhyun Baek, michelle Chu, Juri Rhyu.

Namjoo Kim - “Klimt’s symbolism conveys a message that changes to each and every one with the women he draws. Women of the past enter different spaces in the mirrors of the future and dance according to the mysterious rhythms created by the fantastic combination of conception and abstraction, reality and unrealism.”

Hobong Kim - “His work fascinates me. His color and composition had a profound influence on him at that time and even now. I feel my small presence in his landscape paintings, where the rich colors and many layers are splendidly spread under the influence of impressionism. One of his works”. “I would like to recreate it with the inspiration I feel while watching it. I changed the house shown in the detail into my house and put my beloved Romeo in it. Hoping to fully feel the warmth of Klimt”.

Juri Rhyu“Gustav Klimt is known for his unique style of using gold and geometric shape patterns in his paintings and drawings. I admire Klimt not only for his glamorous style but also for how he captures subtle emotions in his dream-like paintings. He inspired me to challenge myself to create a portrait that can represent my inner strength, beauty, and sorrow.

"Klimt is known for not producing self-portraits. However, I created a self-portrait that combined my style with his. I used unfamiliar materials for my work to honor Gustav Klimt. I used gold pigment to give a luminescent feeling and impasto technique to paint flowers."

Joohyun Kang - "My work is about Sympathy’s of living life in this group show, ‘Kiss, for Homage Klimt’. I would like to give a tendency’s reward to anybody who were weak and heartbroken. So I draw the deer with broken horns. Sometimes I’m asking to myself that am I doing love and compassion to someone needs to help?

"I believe love is important to grow and change for our livelihood journey. Love… We could find and see that in Klimt’s works."

Teasook Jung - "Klimt's 'The Kiss' shows the love of a lover through a face and pose in a splendid gold decoration. In particular, the form of the woman's hands shows a woman's heart full of anticipation and excitement toward her partner. With this impression, I left only the attractive lines of the two figures in gold."

Michelle Chu - "It has been time of meaningless replica in the midst of endless networks, lacking to pursue my primeval identity. I wish to take a long journey to express my true vision through my artwork and cast out of superficiality."

Kim Heesoo - "A dreamy interpretation of Gustav Klimt's work from a Korean point of view... The figure is of a woman in a hanbok in a hazy state within a wildly golden background."

Heesoo Kim “ Trance” Acrylic, 2022

Christine Seo - "It was painted along with the story development in the form of a horse. It is a painting in which a virtual man and a real woman communicate feelings of love to each other through love and compassion for each other. The colorful decorations and long tail symbolize the figure of a woman, and the straight line drawn on the plane and the knight's chess symbolizes the man.

"I expressed love and joy in yellow and gold representing joy and love."

Christine Seo “ Waves of Heart “ Oil on canvas, 2022

Rokhyun Baek - "Klimt's paintings shine in a golden brilliance. He completed highly decorative works using geometric patterns, ornate backgrounds, and gold and silver foil.

"If Klimt drew a feast of rain, he would have expressed the rain of a wave of golden light. However, I am living in the present age and expressed the cold blue rain and the sparkling raindrops as a decorative work by inserting crystals into my painting."
