Classic Radio Road Show Live presents Two Detective Radio Plays in September

(MIDDLETOWN, NJ) -- Classic Radio Road Show Live presents Two detective radio plays: Adventures of the Thin Man, All American Menace and Richard Diamond, Lonely Hearts September 14-15, 2024.

The Adventures of the Thin Man, All American Menace radio series was based on the film series (William Powell and Myrna Loy), which was based on the 1934 Dashiell Hammet novel.  These characters are delightful, quick witted and super intelligent.

Richard Diamond, Lonely Hearts was created by Blake Edwards and successfully moved from radio (1949 - 1952) to television (1956 - 1960). Rick was "radio's singing gumshoe" , an ex OSS man turned New York City private detective who was tough when called for, but tried to have fun while on the case.

Both shows will feature musical guests Leigh Pezet and Dennis Daniels playing jazz music before the show!  They will also be performing new (fake & funny) commercials by Anthony Aversano, inspired by the radio series' original sponsors!

Performances take place Saturday, September 14 at 2:00pm at the Middletown Arts Center (36 Church Street) in Middletown, New Jersey and Sunday, September 15 at 1:00pm at Cross of Glory Lutheran Church (95 Cambridge Drive) in Aberdeen, New Jersey. Tickets are available for purchase online or at the door at both venues.

EVENT PREVIEWS

(PRINCETON, NJ) — It isn't often that you hear songs by The Cure and Nirvana before the opening of a play, but that's the vibe at McCarter Theatre for Empire Records: The Musical. Based on the cult classic '90s film about a group of employees fighting to keep their record store from going corporate, the play is having its World Premiere in Princeton now through October 6, 2024.

ON-GOING EVENTS

(MADISON, NJ) -- Long before Bridgerton sparked desires and ignited our screens, a young, new writer set the hearts of England ablaze with the deep longing of her compelling characters. Jane Austen's Sense and Sensibility tells the captivating tale of the Dashwood sisters as they attempt to navigate financial strife, would-be suitors, and the rigid edicts of English society following the death of their father. Jessica Swale’s elegant stage adaptation of this beloved classic overflows with humor and style. The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey will present Sense and Sensibility at their F.M. Kirby Shakespeare Theatre on the campus of Drew University from September 4-22, 2024.
