The Stanhope House To Reopen April 15th

originally published: 04/05/2021

(STANHOPE, NJ) — Finally some good news for the live music scene! The Stanhope House, one of New Jersey’s oldest live-music venues, will reopen on April 15.  The venue has announced several shows throughout April with a renovated and expanded Beer Garden open at 4:00pm on Thursdays and Fridays, and at 2:00pm on Saturdays and Sundays.

The Stanhope House will re-open its Beer Garden on April 15, with doors at 4:00pm and the Skylands Songwriters Guild open mic. There is no cover charge for this “soft” re-opening. The hard re-opening is the next night, Friday, April 16, in the Beer Garden, and features Wig Party with special guest Tim Carbone of Railroad Earth ($10 online and at door, with $1 fee online).

“We are beyond excited to welcome friends old and new back to The Stanhope House,” says venue manager Ren Giliberti. “We are working hard to make sure everyone enjoys returning to the place we call home.”

The venerable venue closed in November for the winter, due to cold weather making outdoor shows difficult or impossible. Once conditions permit, owner Jon Klein and Giliberti are hopeful of reopening the indoor part of the legendary roadhouse, which is located minutes off of Route 80.

The Stanhope House bills itself as “The Last Great American Roadhouse” and has hosted everyone from blues legends and Rock and Roll Hall of Famers, to locals playing at open-mic nights. Like the rest of the entertainment industry, the “House” where legend has it that Babe Ruth once drank has been greatly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic of 2020-21.
