So You Want To Be A Rock and Roll Star

originally published: 07/01/2018

Rock ‘n’ Roll Fantasy Camp, an up-close-and-personal music experience that offers attendees a chance to jam, write, record and perform with the world’s greatest rock stars, is returning to its South Florida roots November 8 – 11! There’s no need to “Dream On” when you can jam with Rock and Roll Hall of Famer guitarist Joe Perry of Aerosmith and “Bring It On Home” with legendary drummer Jason Bonham of Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin plus many more rock and roll legends in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

During this South Florida fall session, campers can rock out to popular Aerosmith songs such as “Walk This Way,” “Sweet Emotion,” “Love in an Elevator,” “Back in the Saddle,” “Toys in the Attic” and “Same Old Song and Dance” with Joe Perry, or hit the skins on “Rock and Roll,” “Whole Lotta Love,” Stairway to Heaven,” “Black Dog,” “Immigrant Song” and “Good Times Bad Times” with Jason Bonham!

Rock ‘n’ Roll Fantasy Camp Founder David Fishof is especially thrilled to host this session as it brings him full circle back to the camp’s Florida launch.

“Twenty-three years ago, I never would have imagined this idea would have taken-off in the way it did. Thanks to some great rock star and business advice, we’ve elevated Rock ‘n’ Roll Fantasy Camp to a new level and are excited to be back in the Sunshine State,” said Fishof. “South Florida is teeming with talent and we can’t wait to see it! Each fantasy camp is fun and unique. You don’t have to be a pro to know that the takeaway is a honing of skills, a conquering of fear and most importantly, the forming of friendships and bonding during the creation of music.”

Rock ‘n’ Roll Fantasy Camp is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to become immersed in rock and roll for four incredible music-filled days. The fully interactive, participatory camp takes place in a non-competitive atmosphere that welcomes guitar players, bass players, vocalists, drummers and keyboard player at all skill levels ranging from beginner to advanced.

The Rock ‘n’ Roll Fantasy Camp experience begins the moment of sign-up. After a skill level and musical preferences assessment, fantasy campers are placed in a band with other like-minded, similarly skilled musicians all ready to rock. Whatever their level of proficiency - from lead guitar to rhythm guitar to air guitar - abilities and confidence will grow during rehearsal under the constant guidance of rock star counselors including Vinny Appice (Black Sabbath), Monte Pittman (Madonna), Teddy Andreadis (Guns N’ Roses), Ricky Byrd (Joan Jett & The Blackhearts) and many more!

These recognized musicians won't simply coordinate your band, they'll inspire in a series of intimate master classes on the camper’s chosen instrument, stage presence, and everything rock and roll, along with tales from the road. Our newest class, THE ROUNDTABLE, welcomes campers to bring their original song to work on with our incredibly talented and skilled rock star counselors. Campers will take part in Q&As with headliner and rock star counselors, parties, catering, road crew and more. Ultimately, attendees will practice, show-off skills in front of family and friends at camp, take photos, get memorabilia signed and then jam live, onstage, with Joe Perry of Aerosmith and Jason Bonham.

"There's no doubt arena shows are exciting, but you don't get that up-close-and -personal kind of vibe, and that's what rock ‘n' roll is all about for me," said Perry.

Added Fishof, “This is not a competition. It's not a reality show. It's simply ‘reality’ where you’re face-to-face with the rock stars that have created the soundtrack of your life...and YOU get to play with them.”

Spaces are limited and a variety of packages for both musicians and family and friends are available online.

Rock ‘n’ Roll Fantasy Camp was born out of the desire to give the public the experience of living the life of a rock star, with rock stars, for a few days, and gaining their knowledge along the way. The idea came to David Fishof after years of producing rock tours throughout the word. He's been honored to work with veteran rockers, Roger Daltrey, Ringo Starr, Joe Walsh, Bill Wyman, Peter Frampton and so many more. Fishof’s desire to share this experience gave him the inspiration to create the one-of-a-kind Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp. Over the past 20 years our campers and counselors have become family. It's become more than we ever dreamed of. We only work with top-of-the line gear by the major manufacturers - Roland, DW, Zildjian, Boss, Gibson, Electro-Voice etc.- what the pros use. Campers are welcome to bring their own instruments, as well. Our facilities are fully equipped and used by the biggest names in rock and roll with professional techs on-hand. The Rock ‘n’ Roll Fantasy Camp Four Day Experience is a destination for the rocker in you. You will be transported to another dimension as you immerse yourself in the world of Rock and Roll. It's mind-blowing. It's life-changing.
