New Jersey actor, Saim Hyder has been cast in the lead role for Scrumfest, a new pilot produced by Jus Broadcasting. Scrumfest will be aired internationally and online in English & Hindi in 2016. This role gives this versatile and critically well received actor the opportunity to reach audiences worldwide. Saim has received strong reviews for his stage appearances which include lead roles in Chekov's The Cherry Orchard and The Rajah's Son and Princess Labam.
Scrumfest tells the story of Hari, a restaurant worker who dreams of opening his own restaurant but lack of money comes in his way. He reaches a point where he has to decide between slogging for a head cook promotion with no guarantee or choosing a well-paying IT job with no experience. Either one may help him open his dream restaurant. The series revolves around the difficult choices he makes and the obstacles he must face during his journey. These obstacles include his bumbling roommate Yogi and his bossy boss Moti whose manipulative daughter Disha is being wooed by an arrogant IT professional called Sandy. All of these characters’ needs make it hard for Hari to get what he wants.
Saim Hyder is an accomplished actor and model from Lucknow, India. At his school in La Martiniere College, he started playing lead roles in plays like The Prince of Baghdad and Julius Caesar where he was singled out and praised. Saim continued to follow his passion for acting and moved to the United States to coninue his studies. At the Arkansas State University , Saim completed a Masters Degree in Mass Communication. After college Saim trained at the renowned NY Film Academy and Maggie Flanigan Acting studio in New York City. In the United States, Saim has appeared in leading roles in numerous short films including Larry Brought Lemon and Fulfillment both produced by the New York Film Academy. Larry Brought Lemon directed by Ujjwal Patel was screened at the Indian Film Festival of Tampa while Patrons, directed by Rita Raider was screened at the Palm Springs International Film Festival. Saim is also a seasoned theater actor whose stage credits include the starring role of Alexander Loehman in Anton Chekov's classic play, The Cherry Orchard for the Falcon Theater. He has also played leading roles in off-Broadway shows such as The Rajah's Son and Princess Labam, Bonafide Women and One Nation Under God among others. Saim received rave reviews for his stage performances by the NRI Tribune, one of the largest Indian-American newspapers. He has also been interviewed by print and television media including Times of India and Yahoo Movies.
Currently, Saim is also lead actor and producer of a bilingual[English/Hindi] sitcom for a popular South Asian TV Channel -Jus 24/7 which is a Hindi-English channel available on Dish Network and online on YUPP-TV.
