Sometimes an out of area show pops up that we need to be made aware of; this is one of them.
“Sold Out” is how the latest press release reads for the “9th Annual Rock On The Range Music Festival” scheduled for May 15, 16 and 17 at Mapfre Stadium (Formerly Crew Stadium) in Columbus, Ohio.
A continuation of “The World’s Loudest Month,” yet another in the “Danny Wimmer Presents” series of rock festivals guaranteed to melt your face off or at the very least; your ears from start to finish.
Linkin Park, Slipknot and Judas Priest headline this event; once again sponsored by Monster Energy, Jack Daniel’s, Crazy Dave’s Music Experience and Zippo Encore Music Experience, with an "Interactive graffiti art installation by Risk." There will also be a "Full vendor village” where those who attend will get to shop for their head banging pleasures and more. New this year to this love fest for metal heads will be the "Rolling Rock Comedy Tent," featuring major comedians such as Rob Schneider, Jim Norton and a cast of others as well as a “Battle of The Bands” competition with the winners receiving an all-expenses paid trip to Columbus to perform at the festival, over $15,000 in prizes and instruments and an Ernie Ball Strings endorsement.
The festivities kick off on Friday with a twenty one band line up including Slipknot, Marilyn Manson, Slash featuring Myles Kennedy & the Conspirators, along with Breaking Benjamin that promises to rock the grounds of Mapfre’s to its core.
Saturday sees Judas Priest continue their “40th Anniversary Tour” as part of the mayhem which is sure to ensue when so many giants of this genre get together in one place. Shall the Priest not be enough to incite a rockin’ good time; how about Godsmack, Papa Roach or Scott Weiland and The Wildabouts? There are a scheduled eighteen acts for your Saturday entertainment guaranteed to have bodies slamming, moshing and crowd surfing; a true air drummers and guitarists paradise.
Sunday continues to blister eardrums with Linkin Park, Rise Against, Volbeat, Halestorm and Anthrax kicking butt and taking no prisoners as they, along with fifteen additional hardcore and metal acts close the three day extravaganza with a bang.
Those who can no longer attend this now totally sold out, three day concert for the ages; can now see what they’re missing by tuning to the official broadcast partner of “Rock On the Range;” AXS TV. Considered by many to be the best cable music channel around today, AXS will be bringing every power chord and cymbal crash into homes all across the land.
To find out about all of the festivities, ticket information, bands and sponsors; please go to www.rockontherange.com. Closer to home, '60's / '70's performer "Melanie" is at the Open Arts Stage Theater in Bordentown, NJ. Former City Gardens main man and current proprietor of the Man Cave, Randy NOW brings us yet another classic entertainer from days gone by; this time it's Melanie. This iconic performer brought us the hits "Brand New Key" and "Look What they've Done to My Song Ma," made famous by Ray Charles and performed at Woodstock. Opening up for Melanie are '80's sensations, "The Catholic Girls." Throw back with these great performers that have stood the test of time after coming out of two very turbulent decades. Show time is 8:30 p.m., doors open at 8 p.m. and tickets cost $30 in advance and $35 at the door.
