(NEWARK, NJ) -- Newark Mayor Ras J. Baraka will join NFL Indianapolis Colts Defensive End, Newark resident Al-Quadin Muhammad, and five other NFL stars at his second annual Youth and High School Fundamental Football Camp in grades k-12, being held on Sunday, June 9, from 9:00am to 2:00pm at Kean University Alumni Stadium, located at 1000 Morris Avenue, in Union, New Jersey. FUNdamentals, which teaches basic football skills, introduces children to the sport in a fun and energetic environment. Drills including: catching, passing, and running skills will be offered to Newark school children. Certified clinicians use a series of drills to teach these skills in a non-contact setting. The event is free and co-ed.
Other NFL stars who will appear at the event will be Rahway native and New York Giants tackle Olsen Pierrre; Newark native, Newark Tech graduate, and Colts defensive end Kemoko Turay; Philadelphia native and Colts linebacker Zaire Franklin; Elizabeth native and Colts quarterback Phillip "PJ" Walker; and New York Jets cornerback Arthur Maulet.
Born in Irvington but with Newark roots, Mr. Muhammad was ranked the number 1 football prospect in New Jersey in 2012, and began his pro career with the Saints in 2017. His program is designed to "pay it forward" to support youth sports and education.
