(SUMMIT, NJ) -- New Jersey Dance Theatre Ensemble (NJDTE) returns with its 52nd season of the full-length production of The Nutcracker. Set to the classic music of Peter Tchaikovsky and choreographed by NJDTE Artistic Director Nancy Turano, the ballet features over 48 talented pre-professional dancers from New Jersey alongside renowned international guest artists Alexandra Gonzalez, Jacoby Pruitt and Eric Parra of Metropolitan Opera Ballet & Limon Dance. There are two performances on Saturday, December 11 and two more on Sunday, December 12. All performances take place at NJDTE in Summit. There will also be a virtual performance available on December 19.
“We are thrilled to present the full-length version of our classic Holiday favorite, The Nutcracker. These past years required a new level of focus on our vision and mission at NJDTE. We have been able to persevere and thrive through what has been a series of obstacles to simply do what we love and perform” says Artistic Director, Nancy Turano.
“I have been amazed of the drive and perseverance of these talented young artists. They inspire us and are the reason why”. This year the role of the Sugar Plum Fairy will be played by one of our H.S. pre-professional dancers Tanner Hutchinson. “What an honor to watch Tanner’s journey at NJDTE, starting at age 10 evolving from a bright-eyed dreamer to a refined artist performing the highly technical role of Sugar Plum. She along with many of our pre-professional dancers have the talent, intelligence and discipline to make it as a professional in the field,” says Artistic Director Nancy Turano.
All performances take place at New Jersey Dance Theatre Ensemble, 315b Springfield Avenue, Summit, New Jersey on Saturday, December 11 at 2:00pm and 5:00pm, and Sunday, December 12 at 2:00pm and 5:00pm.
