Mayo Presents Dancin' Broadway

(MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- Enjoy a dazzling romp through Broadway musicals and the great dance numbers that made musical theatre history when Dancin’ Broadway comes to Mayo Performing Arts Center on Saturday, April 28 at 8:00pm. Tickets range from $29=$69.

From Agnes de Mille to Bob Fosse to Jerome Robbins, iconic choreography has made stars of dancers and forged the path of Broadway musical theatre. Dancin’ Broadway is a multi-media extravaganza featuring leading Broadway dancers and vocalists with a live band performing in the styles of Broadway’s most sensational show-off dances of the past century. Celebrity choreographers, leading Broadway dancers and “gypsies” make video appearances to share fun and inspiring backstage stories and clips of their favorite blockbuster dance performances.

The event is produced by Daniel C. Levine, who has appeared in numerous Broadway shows and National Tours. He was nominated for Best Actor in a Musical –League of American Theaters and Producers, for his role as Cousin Kevin in “The Who’s Tommy”. He also originated the role of Mary Sunshine in the Broadway National tour of Chicago. Daniel is the creator, producer, and director of “Broadway Backstage!”. Daniel’s show “Born To Dance” can be seen throughout the world on Princess Cruise Lines. Daniel is also the owner of Big Apple Tutoring, LLC – one of Manhattan’s largest academic educational firms. Daniel serves as Artistic Director for the Broadway and Cabaret Series at The Ridgefield Playhouse. He is also Artistic Director and co-founder of ACT of CT (A Contemporary Theater of CT).

The show’s choreographer is Mark Myars. Myars started dancing at the age of 3 and has a varied career in NYC as both a performer and choreographer. Broadway credits include the original companies of “Footloose”, “Wicked” and “9to5″, as well as the revival of “West Side Story” and Twyla Tharp’s “Come Fly Away”. Off-Broadway, Mark has been seen as “Dream Hannibal” in “Silence! The Musical”. He played the role of “Mike” in Papermill Playhouse’s acclaimed production of “A Chorus Line”. He can be seen in the films “Centerstage”, “The Producers”, “Across the Universe”, “Rock of Ages”, “Life of an Actress”, and “Winter’s Tale”.  Mark is currently the Dance Supervisor for the North American productions of “Wicked” and was the Assistant Choreographer on seven “Wicked” companies worldwide. He is Associate Choreographer of Broadway’s “If/Then”, currently on tour.

Completing the creative team is musical director Bryan Perri.  Perri is currently the music director and conductor of the Broadway production of WICKED. He also music directed CHAPLIN on Broadway where he also contributed vocal and dance arrangements; cast album. Other recent credits as music director: NEXT TO NORMAL (Ist National Tour, starring Alice Ripley), WICKED (Los Angeles, San Francisco companies, 1st national tour), IS THERE LIFE AFTER HIGH SCHOOL? (York Theater), and ALTAR BOYZ (1st national tour). Bryan also enjoys an active concert life, recently performing for the Lincoln Center Songbook honors and performs with Aaron Tveit, Ken Page, Lindsay Mendez, Megan Hilty and many others.
