Mamma Mia! Movie Sing-A-Long

originally published: 03/08/2015

(WEST WINDSOR, NJ) -- Attention, dancing queens. It's time for a sing-along, a play-along, and good old-fashioned fun for all those who appreciate disco - especially the music of ABBA, one of the greatest disco bands of all times. THEATER TO GO presents MAMMA MIA! Movie Sing-Along at Kelsey Theatre in West Windsor for two showings only: Saturday, March 14 at 2 p.m. and Friday, March 20 at 7 p.m.

When a young bride-to-be secretly invites three strangers to her wedding in hopes of discovering which one is her long-lost dad, the plot quickly gets thick with misunderstandings and uncomfortable moments. In this 2008 film version of the popular Broadway show, an all-star cast, featuring Meryl Streep, Pierce Brosnan, Amanda Seyfried and Colin Firth, plays out the comic details on a beautiful Greek island where Mamma Streep runs an inn that is the idyllic setting for her daughter's special day.

But the main star of this movie is the beloved ABBA soundtrack. Fans can follow the bouncing ball and lyrics on the screen in a collective shout-out to some of the biggest hits of the disco era: Dancing Queen, Take a Chance On Me, I Do I Do, S.O.S, and other ABBA favorites.

Led by our MCs the audience is invited to get into the spirit with costume and trivia contests. .Audience members will also receive a goody bag full of interactive items to enjoy during the viewing of the film.

Founded by Ruth Markoe in 1992, Theater To Go is best known for audience participation murder mysteries and interactive comedy shows. More recently, the company has added movie sing-alongs that give fans a collective viewing experience, complete with participatory props and a master of ceremonies. Among Theater To Go's film sing-alongs are Grease, The Wizard of Oz, Mary Poppins, Annie and the wildly popular Frozen. This is Theater To Go's debut presentation of Mamma Mia.

After the success of  the FROZEN Sing Along, Markoe says her group is looking forward to presenting a movie that is geared for adults. "We believe that whereas most adults stop playing when they hit adolescence, actors play all their lives, and we invite you to join us in the playground!"

Kelsey Theatre is wheelchair accessible, with free parking available next to the theater. For a complete listing of adult and children's events for the 2014-15 season, visit the Kelsey webpage or call the box office for a brochure.
