“Jersey Boys” is Coming to Jersey!

Under the huge crystal guitar chandelier at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City, NJ this February 8, 2019, fans are gathered to witness a special musical presentation of Jersey Boys!

Jersey Boys — the Tony, Grammy, and Olivier award-winning best musical — is headed to the Hard Rock’s Sound Waves theater this summer, and what a better way to get ready for the big event than to do a debut sampler performance today in the hotel’s atrium?

Jersey Boys is the Broadway musical based on the story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons: Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi. This rags-to-riches story reveals how four blue-collar guys from Jersey came to create their own sound and sell 175 million records worldwide!

Inside the spectacular Hard Rock Atlantic City Hotel atrium, president Joe Lupo introduces the entertainers. Then, four spiffed-up men clad in red suits and blue slacks ride down the escalator to the backdrop of a radio DJ introducing their first big hit. The men take the stage and begin to strut their stuff singing “Sherry.”

With their tight harmonies and precision dance steps, the performers dazzle the audience with a high-energy performance that can’t be beat!

For those in the crowd hoping to hear more hits from the Broadway show, the cast does not disappoint! Fans are also treated to a dynamic version of “Beggin’” and a solo rendition of “Can’t Take My Eyes Off You.”

In short white sequenced dresses and high silver heels, three women cast members from Jersey Boys perform “My Boyfriend’s Back,” a hit song in 1963 for the Angels. The women delight the audience with their vocal chops, tight harmonies, and well-synchronized dance moves.

Then, the women join the men for sizzling joint performances of “Who Loves You” and “December ’63 (Oh, What a Night).”

The festivities culminate with a surprise appearance by the original Jersey Boyhimself — Frankie Valli — who gets cheers and applause from both the assembled crowd and the Jersey Boys cast!

Valli tells the crowd how excited he is that Jersey Boys will be playing right here in the Garden State! We also learn that Valli, himself, will take the stage as a headliner when he performs in the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino’s Mark G. Etess Arena on August 2 and 3, 2019!

After today’s musical event, we take a moment to catch up with several members of the crowd here at the Hard Rock Hotel, including Sharon from Philadelphia.

Sporting her Frankie Valli sweatshirt, Sharon tells us she is a “huge fan” of Valli, having followed his career for near 60 years. Sharon says he’s seen him perform so often, she can’t actually count how many times. When asked why she loves Frankie Valli, Sharon reveals, “because he’s so down-to-earth!”

We also have an opportunity to speak with some of the cast members after the performance, including Michael Milton who just finished a tour with Jersey Boys on a Norwegian cruise line.

Milton discloses that although he normally portrays Nick Massi in the show, today he performed the role of Tommy DeVito — a feat which involved learning all new harmonies in a single day!

A consummate performer, Milton tells us that Jersey Boys is the “funnest show I’ve ever done,” before concluding with a smile, “I’m happy to be a part of the Jersey Boys family!”

Jersey Boys will play at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City in the Sound Waves theater from June 25 until July 21, 2019, and Frankie Valli will light up the stage of the Mark G. Etess Arena on August 2 and 3, 2019. For further information, please go to hardrockhotels.com, or for tickets, click on ticketmaster.com.
