George Street Playhouse to Host An Intimate Evening with MARLO THOMAS

(New Brunswick, NJ) -- David Saint, Artistic Director of George Street Playhouse, announced today that actress and philanthropist MARLO THOMAS will make a special appearance at the New Brunswick theatre Saturday, June 2 at 8pm. Proceeds from this "one night only" event will benefit the Playhouse's mainstage and educational programming. Tickets to the event are priced at $125 and $60; the $125 VIP ticket price includes premium seating in the theatre and an exclusive, private reception with Ms. Thomas after the performance.

The intimate evening, hosted by GSP Artistic Director David Saint will include the actress' reminiscences about her incredible life and career, as well as her unique take on everyday life and current events. The delightful evening promises backstage stories and anecdotes sure to be touching, unforgettable -- and funny.

Marlo Thomas has appeared on Broadway in The Shadow Box, Social Security, Thieves and, this season, Relatively Speaking, written by Woody Allen, Ethan Coen and Elaine May. Off-Broadway: The Vagina Monologues, The Guys and The Exonerated (which she also performed in Chicago and Boston). National Tour: Six Degrees of Separation. Regional theatre: Paper Doll, Pittsburgh Public Theater; Woman in Mind, Berkshire Theatre Festival; Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, Hartford Stage; The Effect Of Gamma Rays, Cleveland Playhouse. London West End: Barefoot in the Park. Ms. Thomas has appeared in more than a dozen distinguished television movies, including Nobody's Child, for which she won the Emmy for Best Dramatic Actress. Numerous TV guest appearances including Ugly Betty, Friends and Law & Order. Films include: Playing Mona Lisa, The Real Blonde, Dust and Stardust, In the Spirit, Thieves and Jenny. This summer, she can be seen in L.O.L., co-starring Miley Cyrus and Demi Moore. Ms. Thomas created the Free to Be…You and Me TV specials, books and records, as well as the bestselling books, The Right Words at the Right Time, Volumes 1 and 2, and Growing Up Laughing: My Story and the Story of Funny. She starred in and produced the groundbreaking, That Girl, television's first comedy series about a single, independent woman. She has been honored with four Emmys, nine Emmy nominations, the Peabody, the Golden Globe and the Grammy, and has been inducted into the Broadcasting Hall of Fame. Ms. Thomas has performed at the George Street Playhouse in Elaine May's Roger Is Dead and Arthur Laurents' New Year's Eve.

Under the leadership of Artistic Director David Saint, George Street Playhouse has become a nationally recognized theatre, presenting an acclaimed mainstage season while providing an artistic home for established and emerging theatre artists. (SUMMIT, NJ) -- Vivid Stage is celebrating its 30th Anniversary season, marking decades of bringing contemporary theatre to audiences in the state of New Jersey. On Sunday, January 19, 2025 at 4:30pm, Vivid will co-sponsor a reading of Katori Hall's play The Mountaintop with Interweave and Saint John's Lutheran Church of Summit in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s legacy. The reading will take place at Saint John's (587 Springfield Avenue) in Summit. No tickets are necessary; all are welcome.
