originally published: 10/02/2018

(MORRISTOWN, NJ) -- New Jersey Theatre Alliance (“the Alliance”) has hired Deb Miller as the organization’s Development & Communications Director. Ms. Miller will be responsible for creating effective fundraising strategies as well as generating promotional tactics to raise awareness of The Alliance and its member theatres.

Ms. Miller joins The Alliance team after having worked as an event fundraising consultant during the past year and serving in various management roles over the last two decades where she was instrumental in increasing annual giving for organizations such as Conquer Paralysis Now, Family Promise National, United Way of Tri-State, and The RWJ University Hospital Foundation where she also led a 30-person committee in planning year-long promotions and events celebrating the hospital’s 125th anniversary.

She is currently the membership chair for the Rutgers Touchdown Club, which is the booster club for the University football team, and is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals whose 30,000 individual and organizational members raise over $100 billion annually.

Ms. Miller holds a BA degree in Journalism from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, NJ, and is a freelance writer for the Diocese of Metuchen newspaper. In addition, she dabbles in scriptwriting and composing short plays and received a 1997 CAPE award as co-scriptwriter for a docudrama produced for a local cable station.

“This opportunity is such a terrific way to not only collaborate with numerous professional theatres throughout the state but also contribute toward creating greater awareness of the wonderful work they do,” says Ms. Miller. “I love everything about the theatre arts, so combined with my nonprofit background, this is an ideal career move.”
