Charlie Bondhus, RVCC Professor Pens New Book of Poetry

Charlie Bondhus of Bridgewater, Raritan Valley Community College Associate Professor of English, is the author of a new book of poetry, Divining Bones (Sundress Publications). Masculinity and its permutations is a recurring theme in the author’s work. In his book Bondhus uses magick and the occult to explore the fluidity of age, gender, and self-perception in this radical and playful book.

Bondhus also is the author of All the Heat We Could Carry, a collection of poems written from the perspective of a gay soldier and his civilian lover. The book was critically acclaimed and received the Thom Gunn Award for Gay Poetry. His work has appeared in Poetry, The Missouri Review, Columbia Journal, Hayden’s Ferry Review, Bellevue Literary Review, Nimrod, and Copper Nickel.

Bondhus received his MFA in creative writing from Goddard College and his Ph.D. in literature from UMASS Amherst. He has received fellowships from the Virginia Center for Creative Arts, the Sundress Academy for the Arts, and the Hawthornden Castle International Retreat for Writers.
