originally published: 09/28/2021

(UNION, NJ) -- Continuing Kean Stage’s 12th season, a cappella groupVoctave will be the first performance at Enlow Recital Hall (215 North Avenue) in Hillside, NJ, on Sunday, October 3 at 2:00pm. NYC-based vocal jazz quintet Highline, will open the show.

“Our intimate Enlow Recital Hall has been silenced far too long; it’s an absolute joy to bring the space to life again with the beautiful sounds of Voctave, and now, only recently added the Highline,” according to Steve Cochran, Manager of Kean Stage. “This music is exactly what the recital hall was built for and our audiences have been longing for.”

Voctave has had over 150 million online views of their videos, and their latest album, The Corner of Broadway & Main Street Vol. 2, debuted at number three on the iTunes charts. Formed in 2015 by producer and arranger Jamey Ray, the voices that bring their arrangements to life represent a wealth of diverse backgrounds and musical experiences.  The eleven members of Voctave have performed across the globe and appear on countless recordings.  The group has performed with GRAMMY, Dove and American Music Award recipients including Sandi Patty, Pentatonix’s Kirstin Maldonado, Mark Lowry, David Phelps, and Jody McBrayer.  With multiple #1 songs and albums on iTunes, Amazon and Spotify, Voctave has also ranked in the top 25 on Billboard Magazine’s charts.  Voctave’s seven albums are digitally available on all platforms.

Highline, was founded in December 2017 and has been recording music, creating music videos, and  performing in concerts and at events ever since. Highline is committed to continuing the vocal jazz tradition established by groups like Manhattan Transfer, Take 6, The Real Group, and New York Voices, as well as modernizing the art form these artists championed and making it fun and accessible for all audiences.  At the center of Highline’s philosophy is education of the next generation of singers. They’ll often teach workshops and masterclasses throughout the Northeast at high schools, music camps, and more.
