The Howell PAL Theater Company Presents "Annie" at The Strand

(LAKEWOOD, NJ) — The Howell PAL Theater Company will return to ‘LIVE’ theater with the Broadway musical Annie, on stage September 10th and 11th at The Historic Strand Theater in Lakewood, New Jersey for three performances. Set in 1930s in New York City, Annie is the story of a gutsy, red-headed orphan determined to find the parents who abandoned her years ago and left her on the doorstep of a New York City orphanage that is run by the cruel, Miss Hannigan. 


Karen Ann Daniels Named Folger’s Director of Programming and Folger Theatre’s Artistic Director

(WASHINGTON, DC) -- Karen Ann Daniels, director of the Mobile Unit at The Public Theater in New York City, has been named the Folger Shakespeare Library’s Director of Programming and Artistic Director of Folger Theatre following a national search. Daniels will lead the vision and strategy for cultural programming across the institution, including theater performances, concerts, poetry readings, talks, screenings, and other humanities programs inspired by the Folger collection, in the Folger’s historic Elizabethan Theatre as well as new galleries and public spaces created by the building renovation. She succeeds Janet Alexander Griffin who retired in spring 2021.

An enthusiastic crowd of Broadway fans is waiting on the boardwalk in Seaside Heights, NJ this balmy Friday, August 13, 2021 evening for a live performance of Broadway Meets the Beach. Tonight’s show, which features such Broadway stars as Constantine Maroulis (Rock of Ages, Jekyll and Hyde), Jim Borstelmann (The Producers, Young Frankenstein), Korie Lee Blossey (Disney’s Aladdin, Tarzan), and Jen Perry (Kinky Boots, Mama Mia), also spotlights local New Jersey talent including two groups of young dancers from Kick Performing Arts Studios in Fair Haven, NJ.


The York Theatre Company Presents "Remembering Jerry Herman" On September 20th

(NEW YORK, NY) -- The York Theatre Company presents Broadway’s Lee Roy Reams in his new solo show Remembering Jerry Herman*, celebrating his collaboration with the late great musical theater legend. Audiences will hear glorious songs and outrageous stories from shows that include La Cage aux Folles, Hello, Dolly!, and more. Music Director is Alex Rybeck. ONE NIGHT ONLY, Monday, September 20, 2021 at The York’s new temporary home at The Theatre at St. Jean’s (150 East 76th Street, between Lexington and Third Avenues). Remembering Jerry Herman has replaced the previously announced York 50th Anniversary Concert, which has been postponed to a later date.

Montclair To Commemorate 20th Anniversary of 9/11 Attacks With "Catch The Morning" Play Festival

(MONTCLAIR, NJ) -- Montclair will commemorate 20th anniversary of 9/11 attacks with the "Catch The Morning" Play Festival, a collection of one-act plays and monologues on 9/11 themes written and acted by New Jerseyans. The event is underwritten by Apricot Sky Productions and producer/playwright Eric Alter. Topics with great resonance for Garden Staters, relationships arising from September 11th and the disaster’s lasting impacts on lives, will be given the stage treatment at Montclair’s Grove Street  Theater, running  two nights only, Friday September 10 and Saturday September 11 at 8:00pm.

GRAMMY Award-winning San Diego alt rock quintet Switchfoot released their latest album interrobang via Fantasy Records on August 20, 2021. The Tony Berg-produced (Phoebe Bridgers, Paul McCartney, Andrew Bird) and Tchad Blake-mixed (Fiona Apple, Arctic Monkeys, Sheryl Crow) record serves as the band's 12th full-length album release and follows 2019's Native Tongue. Also out today is the music video for focus track "lost 'cause."


The Smithsonian Anthology of Hip-Hop and Rap

The Smithsonian Anthology of Hip-Hop and Rap was released on August 20, 2021. A partnership between The Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC) and Smithsonian Folkways Recordings, the box set and book (300 pages, 11 expert essays, 129 tracks) is the first-of-its-kind, chronicling hip-hop’s growth and impact from the parks of the Bronx to the broadest areas of the American experience and worldwide influence.

Ocean Grove Presents “Sacred Masterworks – Hear My Prayer” On August 29th
