The Allman Betts Band Added To Rock, Ribs & Ridges Festival Lineup

originally published: 06/14/2021

(AUGUSTA, NJ) -- The names say it all. The Allman Betts Band, comprised of sons of three founding members of the legendary Allman Brothers Band who are continuing the families’ musical legacy, has been added to the concert lineup of the 11th annual Rock, Ribs & Ridges Festival, June 25-27 at the Sussex County Fairgrounds in Augusta, NJ.

The Allman Betts Band will perform on Friday June 25, replacing a scheduled performance by the Marshall Tucker Band, which has cancelled their appearance at the annual music and food festival and other upcoming performances due to unforeseen circumstances.

Formed in November 2018, the Allman Betts Band includes Devon Allman (son of Gregg Allman), Duane Betts (son of Dickey Betts), and Berry Duane Oakley (son of Berry Oakley). The American rock band plays original songs along with covers of Allman Brothers songs mixed in.

They have toured nationally and internationally, and have released two albums to date – the chart-topping debut album Down to the River in 2019 and Bless Your Heart in 2020.

While the Allman Brothers were at the forefront of 1970s rock music and later inducted into the Rock-and-Roll Hall of Fame, the Allman Betts Band has produced its own brand of whirling, raucous rock-and-roll, one sure to thrill festival attendees.

“Like our chefs do, we immediately set out to make lemonade out of the lemons we were given. We’re proud to add the Allman Betts Band as they complement our goal of rewarding our dedicated fans with a bigger, better, and longer festival experience as a thank you for their loyalty during the pandemic,” said Festival Producer Howard Freeman of Promo1.

Presented by Franklin Sussex Automall, Rock, Ribs & Ridges traditionally marks the start of the outdoor summer concert and grilling season in the region as it features the biggest names in Southern Rock and the country’s top barbecue pitmasters.  This year’s festival is even more noteworthy as it is the largest in-person event to be held in North Jersey since the pandemic began.

The festival’s largest concert lineup ever features 11 artists performing over an expanded three-day weekend.

The Allman Betts Band and the Screamin Eagle Band will open the festival on Friday night, June 25. Blackberry Smoke, Pat Travers, The Weight Band, Jessica Lynn, and The Matt Coffy Band perform Saturday, June 26.  An all-star collection of Southern rock heroes --- The Outlaws, Artimus Pyle Band, Molly Hatchet, and Blackfoot --- take the stage on Sunday, June 27.

Cowboys BBQ & Rib Company from Ft. Worth, TX will be back to defend their “Best Ribs” and “Best Sauce” titles; Pigtails Barbecue Company from West Salem, OH is the returning “People’s Choice” winner. Attendees can also enjoy mouthwatering barbecue from award-winning Magic Mike’s Smoked Meats of Teaneck, NJ, delicious fare from the championship competition BBQ team Handsome Devil from Newburgh, NY, as well as from Ribbins BBQ from Chambersburg, PA.
