Passage Theatre Company Presents "A Twist Of Water" To Close Out 2020-21 Season

originally published: 04/19/2021

(TRENTON, NJ) -- Passage Theatre Company is ending its 2020-21 mainstage season with an online production of A Twist of Water by Caitlin Parrish and directed by Michael Osinski. This highly anticipated show makes its digital debut after being delayed one season due to the pandemic. The production will be available to stream online from May 12-16, 2021.

A Twist of Water follows Noah, a widowed history teacher, struggling to find hope in the wake of his husband’s death. When their adopted daughter Jira decides that she wants to seek out her birth mother, Noah and Jira are forced to re-examine both their own identities and their relationship to each other. Set against the backdrop of Chicago, this poignant play explores the definition of family and the love we find when we allow ourselves to heal. The cast of A Twist of Water includes Josh Tyson as NOAH, Kishia Nixon as JIRA, Daniel Colón as LIAM, and Wendi Smith as TIA.

Upon ticket purchase, audience members will receive a confirmation email including a link to view the video anytime from Wednesday, May 12 at 11:00am until 11:59pm on Sunday, May 16. Audience members will also have the chance to view the pre-recorded production during the group screening via Zoom on Saturday, May 15 at 7:00pm.

A Twist of Water portrays characters with intersecting identities that include race and sexual orientation.  Passage encourages all attendees to join them for the open and free post-show talkback immediately following the group screening on Saturday, May 15th to discuss the complex situations that are portrayed in the performance. The talkback will begin approximately at 8:30pm.

Director Michael Osinski, says “A Twist of Water is a play about rebuilding. Two people have lost the one person who held their lives together, and now they must rebuild their lives, their family, their home. And they have no idea how to do it. I think that's a sentiment we can all relate to right now. It feels like we're rebuilding our country after a long and turbulent election. We're certainly rebuilding our lives and our sense of normalcy as we try to make it through this pandemic. And we, too, have no idea how to do it.”
