New York Antiques Show To Be Presented Online January 29-31

originally published: 01/15/2021

(NEW YORK, NY) -- Antiques lovers from all over the country and the world, for three days, January 29-31, 2021, will be able to browse and shop the inaugural New York Antiques Show online at the virtual show platform developed by Getmansvirtual.com. Customers will be able to view and purchase the wares of more than 100 dealers from 24 states plus two Canadian provinces by going to NYAntiqueShow.com.

Exhibitors have been chosen by a committee for the quality and variety of their material, as well as their ability to offer items in a variety of price ranges, relevant to today’s markets. The idea is to celebrate the “vibe” of the great old New York “pier” shows, as well as the “other” armory and church events, where there was something for everyone, in every price range. Collectors will be able to shop some of the dealers who were regulars at these events, as well as some dealers who are brand new to the New York market.

This is a chance to re-create the fun of the good old New York shows we all loved, but without the snow, ice, and the traffic. Now you can shop the show while staying cozy in your living room! The show will stay online from 11:00 am EST Friday January 29th and continue through Sunday January 31st at 8:00 pm EST. Admission is free and shoppers will be able to browse by key word, category, by their favorite dealers, or simply browse through the show as if in person, using the robust search engine. 2500 items are expected to be posted by showtime. Unlike live shows, no one has access to the items before the show opens. The list of dealers is available at NYAntiqueShow.com. Individuals can also register at that site to receive email reminders of the show.

The online platform was designed to emulate the experience of walking through a live show booth by booth. In collaboration with a South African firm the platform was initially launched for a series of Marvin Getman’s monthly antiquarian book fairs, which have become enormously popular. It was customized successfully for The Fall Fox Valley Online Antiques Show (hosted by the Chicago Suburban Antiques Dealers Association) last October.

Of that experience, Ohio dealer Jane Langol wrote “Don't believe that the antique market is dead! It is alive and well and strong at the FOX VALLEY ONLINE SHOW. The show was terrific! As a dealer, I was excited to see my choices sell quickly--two of them in the first 15 minutes. Does not always happen at a live show. Let's do it again!”
