Atlantic Highlands Arts Council Presents "Art In The Age Of Covid"

(ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS, NJ) -- "Art in the Age of Covid" is the first juried exhibition sponsored by the Atlantic Highlands Arts Council.  They received submissions from artists throughout New Jersey, as well as from Pennsylvania, New York City and New York State, and as far west as Iowa City, IA. The exhibit was judged by Sheilagh Casey and Jennifer Watson and runs until January 23, 2021.

The exhibit includes artwork by 53 artists: Sherry Ackerson, Linda Arnold, Elizabeth Beres Schwartz, Hema Bharadwaj & Parvathi Kumar, Joseph Borzotta, Sara Brown, David Bryne, Yan Cao, Margery Cohen, Rachel Cohen, Bruce Cohn, Francis Corcoran, Michael Cortese, Dawn DiCicco, Carol Esch, Olivia Fair, Kym Fetsko, Joan Gantz, Kristen Gillespie, Katherine Hedden, Eileen Kennedy, Shoshana Kertesz, Clay Kline, Dave Konig, Sheila Kramer, Ed Kulback, Kristin Kunc, K Dorsey Lucas, Ellen Martin, Charissa Massas, Randy Mayer, Brian McCarty, David McGrath, Roxanna Meléndez, Kristin Middleton, Denise Mumm, Maia Nero, Peter O’Toole, Katharine Philip, Stacey AS Pritchard, Michele Rath, Andrew Ricci, John Robinson, Bill Ross, Andrea Sauchelli, Jim Sechiano, Elizabeth Smith, Heidi Spivack, Jackie St. Angel, Jackson Strome, Carla Valentino, Mary Walker-Baptiste, and Drew Zimmerman.

Sheilagh Casey, a visual artist and writer, has exhibited locally since 2008, winning a number of awards. She studied art history at Purchase College-SUNY and Rutgers. As a journalist, she began her career writing art reviews for Gannet Newspapers in Connecticut, and later became a general news editor and staff writer of The Two River Times. She has also worked as a graphic designer, and teacher of creative writing.   

Jennifer Watson is a recipient of the NJ State Council on the Arts Painting Fellowship and has been included in solo and group exhibitions at Morgan Lehman Gallery, NY; Geoffrey Young Gallery, MA; Brian Morris Gallery, NY; The Noyes Museum of Art, NJ; ada Gallery, VA; Project for Empty Spaces, NJ; Trestle Gallery, NY; R. Jampol Project(s), NY; Exit Art, NY; CWOW, NJ; and more. Watson is included in the current Spring Edition of ArtMaze Mag and her reviews and features have appeared in ARTnews magazine, Gannett Newspapers, The Star Ledger and The Huffington Post. Watson holds a degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and studied visual arts at Mason Gross School of the Arts. She resides in Long Branch, NJ, and works in Newark, NJ.

The Atlantic Highlands Arts Council is located at 54 First Ave in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey. Their mission is to strengthen community through the arts. They are a 100% volunteer 501(c)3 non-profit organization that believes in the power of the arts to transform and enrich communities.  OTheir primary function is to develop and execute events and arts related activities for the benefit of our community.

(RAHWAY, NJ) -- The City of Rahway is pleased to announce the opening of Black Wings: American Dreams of Flight at The Gallery Space (1670 Irving Street) in Rahway. This is a powerful exhibition chronicling the story of African Americans who, despite facing tremendous racial barriers, attained amazing achievements in aviation history.
