Alex Bernstein To Release "Miserable Love Stories" With Events In February

Whether you’re headed to that exciting first date where you’ll inevitably spill Cabernet all over yourself or you and your significant other are celebrating Date Night #4,081 with an extra pint of Halo Top, everyone can agree on one thing: Love Stinks . How to escape the endless cycle of melancholy? Well, you probably can’t. What you can do is take comfort in Miserable Love Stories, humorist and local author Alex Bernstein’s new collection of stories about uncomfortable road trips, horrific bridesmaids’ dresses, strange love at airports, awkward confessions, manic pixie dream girls, the bizarre state of future sex, why you should never ever mention Forrest Gump on a first date, and, of course, true, everlasting love.  

Miserable Love Stories is being released just in time for Valentine’s Day.  During February, Mr. Bernstein will be doing book signings at the Town Bookstore in Westfield and Watchung Booksellers in Montclair.  And on February 14-15, the Rising Curtain Theatre in Bloomfield, NJ will be performing a selection of pieces from the book Miserable Love Stories Live!

(MONMOUTH JUNCTION, NJ) -- On Saturday, February 15, 2025 at 2:00pm, Historian Guy Weston will be presenting Timbuctoo: NJ's Free Black Community Before the Civil War at the South Brunswick Senior Center. Timbuctoo was settled in 1826 by formerly enslaved and free Black people with the assistance of Quakers. Most Timbuctoo residents owned their land, and the community established their own school and an AME Zion Church.
