duCret School of the Arts Presents The Aerosol Experience Festival

originally published: 07/05/2019

(PLAINFIELD, NJ) -- The Aerosol Experience festival, a live-painting community event, will take place in Plainfield on Saturday July 13 from 11:00am to 4:00pm. New Jersey native artists Snow, Distort, and Clarence Rich will create four murals throughout the day. Attendees can watch them in action or take part in helping create the art. The event is presented by the duCret School of the Arts and takes place on the lawn of the school.

Each urban artist will be stationed at their own wall where they will be accessible to teach and encourage young and old to create something new and positive for the community. All participants under 18 will be utilizing paint and markers rather than spray paint. Adults can grab a can and join the artist! Participants can choose to paint at one wall with a specific artist or paint at all three.

As a continuation of the event, duCret is offering an Urban Art Class in September.

The afternoon will also include DJ music and food trucks. Attendees are invited to bring blankets and lawn chairs and spend the day watch the art be created. The murals will stay on the grounds of duCret for the next six months.

Register in advance as there are limited tickets available. You may register online and sign in at the event to collect your wristband. duCret School of the Arts is located at 1030 Central Ave in Plainfield, New Jersey.

"Open

"Open Book(s)" - Adventures on the wild frontier of bookmaking, and meaning-making, in the first floor galleries of Mana Contemporary

Books do not need to be beautiful objects to be cherished. Many indispensable books on my shelf were in poor condition when I brought them home from the shop. The publishers who put out the cheap yellow-page paperbacks that rocked my world and set my course when I was a child didn’t give much consideration to font, printing, or paper stock. All that mattered was readability. Could I open it fast, close it up quick, and chuck it in my bag when I was done? If anybody at the publishing company was making design decisions, those were their objectives. Any impediment to or distraction from the reading experience was unwelcome. They took it for granted that everything that mattered was inside the book.
