Celebrate Greek Mardi Gras at Lefkes on Thursday

originally published: 02/27/2019

(ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, NJ) -- Celebrate Greece's version of Mardi Gras with a lively night of great food and lively traditional and modern Greek music on Thursday, February 28 from 8:00pm to midnight at Lefkes in Englewood Cliffs. Patrons will dine to the area's hottest Greek music duo, renowned international guitarist Spiros Exaras and singer Yanna Katsageorgi. There will be plenty of Opa! as they perform energetic traditional and modern Greek tunes.

The event, part of Lefkes' monthly Greek Night, is traditionally known as Tsiknopempti, the Thursday during Greek Carnival, which this year falls on February 28. The night is defined by revelry and the specially prepared menus of great amounts of grilled and barbecued prime-cut meats, and there's no shortage of either at Lefkes.

The menu for Greek Mardi Gras includes a special Mixed Grill platter prepared by top chefs featuring savory lamb chops, beef and sausage. In addition, guests can order off the regular main menu, which includes a variety of fish, from the fish display and signature dishes.

The Lefkes menu is the creation of foremost Greek Chef Anastatios “Tasos” Ntoumas, who operates Lefkes Santorini and Lefkes Athens. His culinary offerings include traditional Greek classics with a savory, modern twist prepared using the highest standard of ingredients that is fresh, sustainable, organic and sourced locally, when available.

Spiros, an in-demand guitarist who has performed and recorded with pop, R&B and jazz legends including Mariah Carey, Shirley Bassey and Randy Brecker. Greek distinguished vocalist, Katsageorgi, will be the featured vocalist.
