originally published: 11/30/2018

(NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ) -- State Theatre New Jersey presents American Repertory Ballet's Nutcracker for five performances from December 21 through December 23. American Repertory Ballet (ARB) brings the beloved classic Nutcracker to the stage with Tchaikovsky’s magnificent score, stunning sets, thrilling choreography, and a cast of more than 100 performers.  All five American Repertory Ballet performances include a live orchestra and the Princeton Girlchoir.Tickets range from $25-$65.

A holiday tradition for more than 50 years, ARB’s is one of the longest continuously running Nutcracker productions in the nation and the State Theatre performances are one of the only productions to include both a live orchestra and choir. Directed by Artistic Director Douglas Martin, ARB’s professional company will be joined by select students from Princeton Ballet School to tell the story of a young girl named Clara and how a mysterious gift from her Uncle Drosselmeyer brings about enchanted dreams and fantastical scenes.

American Repertory Ballet has been performing its Nutcracker at State Theatre New Jersey for over 30 years. American Repertory Ballet’s current version of the Nutcracker is choreographed by Artistic Director Douglas Martin, with additional choreography by Resident Choreographer Mary Barton, with featured scenes from Company Founder Audrée Estey’s original production. Joining the professional company on stage will be select students from Princeton Ballet School, many who are from Middlesex and Mercer Counties.

Performances take place Friday, December 21 at 7:30pm; Saturday, December 22 at 2:00pm & 7:00pm; and Sunday, December 23 at 1:00pm & 5:00pm.   For tickets, more information, or group discounts, call State Theatre Guest Services at 732-246-SHOW (7469), or visit STNJ.org
