(SOUTH ORANGE, NJ) -- interACT Theatre Productions presents the romantic play Love Letters by A. R. Gurney for one weekend only at the Baird Theatre on Three. These four benefit performances for interACT, presented in part through the generosity of Robert Wall, begin this Friday, February 16th and end Sunday, February 18th. Love Letters is an intimate, 2-person show told through the letters exchanged over nearly 50 years between Andrew Makepeace Ladd III (played by Ted Cancila) and Melissa Gardner (played by Rosemary Wall).
Romantically attached from childhood through adulthood, though living separate lives, the two share their ups and downs, hopes and ambitions, and twists and turns that life brings. The show premiered in 1988 in NYC, starring the playwright as Andrew and Holland Taylor as Melissa, and has been performed countless times over the last 20 years throughout the country. In 1999, Gurney adapted the play into a TV movie for ABC starring Laura Linney and Steven Webber.
Friday and Saturday evening performances start at 7:30pm, and the Saturday and Sunday matinees start at 3:00pm. Performances take place in the Baird Center, 5 Mead Street in South Orange, New Jersey.The runtime is 100 minutes, including an intermission.
Online tickets are discounted at $15 for adults, and $12 for seniors/students, at interactproductions.tix.com until 2 hours prior to the performance. All tickets purchased at the box office in person are $20 and are available starting one hour before showtime. Tickets cannot be purchased by phone.
