NJPAC Presents Art of Rap Tour

originally published: 01/18/2018

(NEWARK, NJ) -- New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) presents Art of Rap Tour on Friday, February 23 at 8:00pm. This 2018 Art of Rap Tour (inspired by Ice-T’s popular documentary, The Art of Rap) returns to NJPAC with an all-new who’s-who of some of the hottest artists on the hip-hop scene: Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, EPMD, N.O.R.E., Big Daddy Kane, Onyx, Mr. Cheeks, Brand Nubian and Roxanne Shanté. Tickets range from $49 to $119.

This electrifying concert will feature the GRAMMY-winning hip-hop unit Bone Thugs-N-Harmony, classified by MTV as "the most melodic hip-hop group of all time"; EPMD, known for a unique brand of funk-fueled, sample-heavy hip-hop that reached the Billboard Hot 100 with the hit single, "Crossover"; N.O.R.E., a solo artist known for his work in traditional hip-hop as well as reggaetón; and legendary, GRAMMY-winning rapper Big Daddy Kane, one of the most influential MCs in all of hip-hop, described by Rolling Stone as "a master wordsmith of rap's late-golden age.”

This Art of Rap Tour also welcomes hardcore hip-hop group Onyx, known for their acclaimed LPs Bacdafucup (and its hit single, "Slam"), All We Got Iz Us and Shut 'Em Down; GRAMMY-winning rapper Mr. Cheeks, acclaimed for his work with the group Lost Boyz as well as his work as a solo artist; Brand Nubian, whose debut album, One for All, is one of the most recognized and influential alternative hip-hop albums of the 1990s; and hip-hop pioneer Roxanne Shanté (Bad Sister, The Bitch is Back), whose life and art inspired Roxanne, Roxanne, a new biopic that debuted to overwhelming acclaim at the 2017 Sundance Film Festival.

NJPAC is located at One Center Street in Newark, New Jersey.
