Playwright Freyda Thomas To Take Part in Talk Back At Centenary Stage

(HACKETTSTOWN, NJ) -- Playwright Freyda Thomas will join the cast and artistic team of the Centenary Stage Company on Sunday, October 8 for a special “talk back” with the audience following the matinee performance of the comedy The Learned Ladies which Thomas adapted from Moliere’s original.

Ms. Thomas has been, at one time or another in her life, an actor, a college professor, a singer, a big band vocalist, a high school teacher,  a secretary, and a playwright.   Thomas’s contemporary adaptation of The Learned Ladies had its world premiere at CSC Repertory Theatre in New York in 1991, starring Jean Stapleton, who reprised the lead role in another performance at ACT San Francisco in 1993.   Thomas’s modern adaptation of Moliere’s most famous work, Tartuffe, became Tartuffe: Born Again,  and was produced on Broadway in 1996, and published by Samuel French.  Additional adaptions included School for Wives (into School for Trophy Wives), The Miser, as well as a French play, Le Joueur (into The Gamester), which had its world premiere at  followed by a production at  ACT in San Francisco.

The professional Centenary Stage Company of The Learned Ladies runs from October 6 - 22 , featuring a talented cast with many Broadway and regional credits to their names.  The production is directed by CSC Artistic Director Carl Wallnau, who has won numerous awards for his comedic direction.
