New Jersey Devils Dedicate Martin Brodeur Statue Outside of Arena

originally published: 10/25/2016

(NEWARK, NJ) -- Outside of Prudential Center on October 22, the New Jersey Devils dedicated and revealed the permanent home of “The Salute,” the bronze statue of goaltending legend Martin Brodeur. NHL Analyst Kevin Weekes emceed the special ceremony, which included remarks from Devils co-owner David Blitzer and Brodeur. “The Salute” was originally unveiled during Brodeur’s jersey retirement weekend in February when the team raised No. 30 to the rafters.

The 900-pound bronze statue was created by renowned sculpture and artist Jon Krawczyk, who worked with Brodeur on the design. Krawczyk, a Boonton Township, N.J. native and lifelong Devils fan, also created the steel hockey statue on Championship Plaza outside of Prudential Center.

The New Jersey Devils are part of the 30-team National Hockey League, with teams throughout the United States and Canada. Established in 1982, the team is in its 34th season in the Garden State. During that time, the Devils have won three Stanley Cup Championships: 1995, 2000 and 2003. For more information about the Devils, visit NewJerseyDevils.com.
