(ASBURY PARK NJ) -- Two summers ago, The Stephen Crane House at 508 Fourth Avenue in Asbury Park hosted spoken word artist, playwright and musician Rock Wilk in a performance of his one-man, four-character play "Privilege." It was the first in a new series of theatrical presentations at the place where the great American author Stephen Crane first put pen to paper...and on Tuesday evening, July 21, Rock Wilk returns to the historic home on Fourth Avenue for a new look at this revised, re-energized, dynamic piece of theater, now entitled "Brooklyn Quartet."

Scheduled for 7 pm, and directed by Reg E. Gaines of Broadway's "Bring in Da Noise, Bring In Da Funk," the event represents the sole area appearance of the work that's been presented to great acclaim at NYC's Medicine Show Theatre...and which travels to the west coast in August. It also represents an Asbury encore for the artist whose Off Broadway solo "Broke Wide Open" was seen for the first time (in its earliest incarnation as "Ma Plej") inside the Lecture Room of The Stephen Crane House.

Spanning some 20 years of time and oceans of emotion, the story of three Bed-Stuy friends (one black, one white, one Latina) and the Angel who watches over them is told with passion, intensity, a love for the music of language, and an appreciation of all that's communicated between the words. It's a rare close-up look at a dramatic work that's been called "poignant, uncensored and beautifully scripted;" specially configured for the intimate Crane House space by a one-of-a-kind artist.
